• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

spent a couple of days riding the panhandle of Florida and am experiencing more and more frequent DESS errors. been inconvenienced and not stranded yet, but is getting worse. First appointment my dealer has is Monday, Jan 4th.

Of course he has to have the bike 10 days for warranty coverage to troubleshoot, report it to Can Am, get it approved, order and receive the part, and replace. Guess I should count my blessings it's January, the potentially worse riding weather month, even here in the deep south of Nawlins'.

as far as I know, there's no such thing as loaners around here.

D.E.S.S. ........ISSUE

....This is really getting to be BEYOND reasonable. I wonder if it can be determined using V.I.N. numbers what batch of modules were defective.......I purchased mine ( basic RT ) in May of 14 and it was made in Mar of 14, have over 19,000 miles and have only seen the KEY flash for 1 second but no code or any issues of that nature .....Mike

If you get the DESS ERROR again, please post on the thread that I Started " DESS KEY CODE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on 8/13/15 it has 11 pages. Posted by me( Deanna777). Read the thread for more info on the DESS key code.

The second time I had the DESS key code, I called my can-am dealership on a Tuesday, they had the part at the dealership on Thursday ( the same week) I had an appointment on Friday. I only waited 1 hour for the work to be done. They replaced the DESS module, and switch, and it was all under warranty. I have a 2014RTS-SE6. Your dealership should not have to have your spyder for 10 days to trouble shoot. If it happens again take a picture, and show it to your dealership. Deanna

I reported my issues to Hattiesburg Powersports which is 2 hrs from me, but a large dealership with a skilled service dept and great customer service. They did ask me to send them a pick of the error screen to begin the repair process. It's under the original warranty till March with a BEST warranty after that.

that said, when browsing similar threads, I saw questions and remarks about the workings of the system and the possibility of other devices causing interference. my cell phone is always in my left pants pocket and not always have Bluetooth turned on. the usual key I use has the Lamonster IPC hunk of metal attached, with the spare key in a pocket attached to the top of the dash. Both keys have been used and got the error. But switching keys seems to help getting it going.

all that said, I'm wondering about the Sena Bluetooth headset on my helmet. If my memory is correct, I didn't get any errors the first couple of months I had the bike (purchased used) until I purchased and installed the Sena headsets and started using them. And the last day ride, I didn't even turn it on...I was solo and listened to music through the speakers...no DESS error all day. Plus, I know I always hang the helmet on the throttle side grip when parked and will start the bike with it there or in my hand next to the grip. I remember one error last week and that's what I think I did. Then I put the helmet on, switched keys, waited a few minutes, and whalla, it started.

So, I'm going to observe all that and try to determine a pattern to the errors.

Dess Error

I have had my RT SM6 for less that a year (2014 Model) and the error has shown up three times. Each time is getting harder to solve. I am taking to the dealer tomorrow for warranty. 4/27/16. 5000 miles on the bike. It is really a bad system with all the items that have to worked on the key location.

I have a 2014RTS-SE6 and had the D.E.S.S module replaced twice ( first module replaced @ 6,994 miles and the 2nd D.E.S.S. module replaced 8,740 miles + Ignition Switch replaced).

Take a picture of the D.E.S.S error key code, and have your dealership OPEN UP A CASE WITH BRP. Good Luck and keep us posted on what happens. Deanna
