I HATE SNOW

This could be a whole lot worse than what it is. It could be me in Missouri getting snow. I will be riding tomorrow and Saturday.

:yikes:14 inches on the ground here so far, and still snowing heavily. :banghead:

I think I would rather have the snow than the 3/4" of freezing rain we got Tuesday night. Now, everything is coated in a nice thick layer of ice. When I walk on top of it in my yard, it breaks and I drop almost a foot. Hard to walk on and even harder for our dog. :(

I had to get the neighbour to plow it because it was too hard for me to move. Snowblower was absolutely no help.

Mt Rose Ski resort

The above named ski resort ( 11 minutes and 2700 feet above my house) has gotten 510" + of snow this season. Yes that is over 42 FEET of snow fall this season. There is over 15 feet of snow no the ground( average) and the expect 1 to 3 feet tonite as we have an "atmospheric river" hitting us today. The amount of snow is mind boggling but the Sierra Nevada dose get just about more snow than most mt. ranges.

Kaos

This post is about Mt. Rose ski resort in Nevada. USA. It is just east of Lake Tahoe, California/Nevada. Check the " Snow Report" portion of site at www.mtrose.com for factual information about snow received this season. A google search will give pages and pictures of where I've skied for decades. or just go to www.mtrose.com

Tuesday morning we had a couple inches of what most folks would call wet snow. I called it pre-slush. By 2 PM it was mostly melted into 2" of slush.

Hey Kaos, I can only assume that you put 'THe above named...' name in the post title field?!? :dontknow:

Any chance you could edit your post to include that info in the text? Or maybe just tell us what the resort name actually is??

There are quite a few of us who NEVER get to see anything anyone puts in that field apart from the title from the very first poster.... so I can tell you that 'I HATE SNOW' is the thread title, but your post just doesn't make much sense when that is ALL that I can see from the field immediately above your post! :( And despite trying to search on the info you provided in the text, it doesn't narrow things down much at all. :gaah:

I really wish that 'title' field could be entirely disabled for everyone except the first poster in a thread; or at least that following/replying posters just wouldn't use it at all - that'd help soooo many of us to make sense of some posts instead of just leaving us guessing.... :sour:

Hay Peter,

Always be careful when you assume:joke:

At www.skirose.com there is all the info one needs to see how much snow there is just a few miles( and 12 minutes driving time) from where I live. I think most folks here do look in the title bar to see what the poster is writing about but maybe not.

I thought the thread was about snow. I posted about------ snow----

So to answer your question(s):

The ski resort in question is Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe It is to the east of Lake Tahoe California/Nevada. It has a base elevation of 8,200 feet. www.skirose.com

I hope that clears things up a bit but I'll also edit the original post as per your request.

Confusion causes:::::::::::::::::::: Kaos

PS: I don't know why some systems don't show titles for each post. My old archaic system always shows the title box ---- it may be empty but it's there. A google search for Mt. Rose is informative. Click on www.skirose.com

Thanks for that info Kaos, NOW I can go find out a bit more about the snow in your area, & actually follow up on the resort that you referred to & made me want to know more about! :thumbup:

However, the point that you seem to have missed in my earlier post is that, while I agree with you that those who can see the post title field may actually look at it & read it, there are many potential readers who just don't get that chance because they NEVER even get to see what's in the post title bar anyway - the system or phone they are using just doesn't allow it!

So whenever you type anything into that post title area, not only do some of your posts become meaningless to quite a few potential readers, you are also restricting yourself to only reaching some of your potential readers & actively excluding many others who might be quite interested in knowing what you had to say up there.... :dontknow: Why you would want to do that is beyond me; so once again, I can only assume that you didn't realise that not everyone gets to see that field. :gaah:

Hence my request, which I'll rephrase & re-state - please don't put anything in that field unless you are posting the very first post in a thread. By doing that little thing you will allow more of your potential readers to make sense of your posts - and isn't that the aim?! :2thumbs:

Ps: Sorry, you were typing your post script while I was typing my post, so they crossed - I don't know why it happens either, but it happens to quite a few people on this & a couple of other Forums I frequent that are using the same vBulletin system, so I guess it's gotta be something to do with that...

Ryding snow blower

hi John,

A neighbor op the street has an ATV with a snowblower deck that attaches like a snow plow. Motor is too small though as we sometimes heavy water that builds up into clay like ice and needs at least 10 horsepower to throw. Good luck in your search.

Kaos

i started looking for a 4 wheeler with a plow , used, there are a few out there pretty cheap, but is it worth it for a couple of snows a year. my snow blower does great, but i am still looking to save some cash

Cuzn,
Save your money: I plowed my office parking lot for six years with my Grizzly...

Yep, upstate South Carolina you can ride year round (except some weeks along the way allowing for rain and some occasional ice or snow). Four seasons and the mountains are near by...history all around. Sorry, not trying to rub it in...but I do love where I live.

Cheer up, not many weeks of winter left.
Blessings!

Hurry up Spring! Deanna
