• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Yesterday morning while riding to work it was very windy. Without any warning, all of a sudden there was a power line hanging down in front of me. There was no time to react. The road has a 45 mph speed limit, and my gps recorded I was doing 49 mph. I saw the wire a split second before it hit my windshield. It made a nasty sound, but went up and over me. My entire windshield was marked by the impact. I think something else was marked as well! The impact point can be seen just below the chrome section of the windshield, with marks on the chrome, and up the rest of the windshield. The second miracle of the day is that when I got home, all evidence of the impact was able to be polished out! There are no cracks at the mounting screws, and even the plastic chrome shows no damage. You can see in the photos the blurred diagonal line that is the wire. The location of my front dashcam camera indicates the height of the wire above the road. Last photo won't rotate right for some reason.

Thank God you made it thru that wire. A few years ago in my County, a 2 wheel rider was decapitated by a wire across the road

And you are here to tell about it! You may have used a big portion of YLTL, "your life time LUCK"

I would have needed a ride home after that!

Glad it all turned out OK, Bill

WHOA! Your one lucky dude. nojoke Tom :spyder:

People said I was lucky to survive getting shot. I tell them I'd have been truly lucky if he'd missed.

It could've been a lot worse, glad you're okay.

Good save!!! Thank God you got under that wire, that would have been a BAD day if you hadn't!!! Glad it worked out!!

Glad you made it thru that. I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago and I still do not remember what happened. 1 minute checking my mirror, the next looking up at a police officer telling me not to move. Bike was a 1/2 mile down the road, so they tell me. Caught me right at the top of my helmet. Check those lottery numbers!

Having a 'barn door' for a windscreen comes in handy for more than wind and rain! Imagine riding a naked bike! :yikes:

Man you are lucky hurry out and buy some lotto tickets today.... if you were riding on a bike without a windshield
you would be DEAD or worse....hahaha

I guess I'm with everyone else. You are lucky to be alive! You've paid your dues! We all wish you smooth sailing from here on out!
