• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I got a Brake Failure message! Code C0048 - Any suggestions?

Yesterday, I got the Brake Failure! message on the screen, with the flashing exclamation point on the left. I was on a slight downhill slope. The code was C0048 which is not listed in Spydercodes, nor is it on the list provided by Lamont. The brakes felt fine to me. Pulled the key, walked away for a bit, started the Spyder back up, the error message was gone, screen cleared and all seems fine. After doing a search here, it seems to me that the consensus is that these machines are extremely sensitive to the brake fluid level, especially when the Spyder is not level. When I checked, the brake fluid level was below max, but above min. So, off to the auto parts store for some DOT 4 brake fluid, top it off, and see what happens. Really don't want to make a trip to the dealer. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I believe you have figured it out. The brake fluid level is extremely sensitive and likes to be right near max. Going up or down an incline can set off the "orange screen of death" (brake failure) very quickly. I have had it happen to me a few times going down Hatcher Pass (a 13 mile steep incline)--which is one of my regular rides. Each time, it was due to failure to check those fluid levels before that first ride or two of the year. A teaspoon or so of fluid and the problem does not persist.

A shut off and re-boot usually solves the issue until you can get fluid.

UPDATE: Since adding 4 teaspoons to each reservoir, I have put almost 200 miles on the RT, and all seems well. No orange screen or warning, normal pedal feel, no brake noise, and the brakes work as good as they always have. So, I believe that the problem is solved. Thanks to all for your advice.:bowdown:
