Maybe two month ago i buy a new set of spark plug and wire. I install it the bike seem to running well my feeling. After maybe 2000km check engine and P0174 appear last week. I read the manual shop trying to fix the problem. After testing purge valve and some. I had think what it was the last part i replace on the bike i was not thinking about the wire. So i check the wire the booth on the spark plug side are ok. Now on the coil side. When i remove the wire the bank 1 was ok but the bank 2 was rust inside the coil contact and the wire side. I investigate why some water running inside. I follow the wire and it passing just under the open vent under the left mirror and connecting in front cylinder. So ???? my bike have to stay outside and it rainning. With the rain falling the water follow the wire and pass between the booth and wire. I also check the wire and when i see inside the contact was too much inside the booth so when i plug in it i hear a click but when i release the booth it return to it normal form but it unplugged the wire inside the coil at the same time the electricity is passing but not enough. So i receive the P0174 lean. So i clean everything with a rust remover. I pull the wire inside the booth to make it even with the booth and plug it back. So i start the bike P0174 are there again i go to work last morning (yesterday) When i finish the job i go back to home and i decide to check if there a code (mode—set) and cancel. Surprise no code.but just the check engine light. And today after work i return to home with check engine light. i pass my key to My brother take my bike to make testing ride around the block. When he came back he said you don't tell me that your bike it ok. I said just check engine light. He said you have nothing anymore. I go outside and check no warning orange no check engine no P0174. I'm leaving the 10 august from Montreal to the Smokies , capateras,virginia beach and return home. 5000km with friend i'm starting thinking to cancel my ride the dealer will take all my money for fixing it at 100$/hour. I'm really happy with the end of the story.
I don't know if you will understand my explanation. I'm french Quebecer i don't practice enough my english. I'm wishing you will understand what cause the problem.
For finish i seal the upper side of the booth with liquid tape for stopping the water running between the wire and the rubber booth.
I wish i could help someone who change is wire and the P0174 appear maybe 2 month after cause by water making he rusting job.
