• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I don't understand 'Trip Statistics'... am I holding it wrong?

A couple of days ago I (accidentally) cleared the 'A' trip statistics. The next morning I went about doing errands on my 23 RT L and did about 30 or so miles.

When I looked at the 'A' trip statistic numbers the average fuel consumption was about 4 miles/gallon! Clearly not correct.

I think that when I had cleared the 'A' statistics I had consumed about 25% - 35% of the fuel.

The only explanation for this phenomenon that I can think of is that the software might not setting the fuel consumption to zero when the reset is done so the miles per gallon in the statistics display for my short trip is calculated by

( (miles traveled for short trip) / ((gallons used prior to reset)+ (gallons used for the short trip))

Ideally I would like to reset the trip stats at the start of any of my rides and see the (right) statistics at the end of the trip.

Any insights would be appreciated.

In all of that dash and button menu manipulation, you can pause either of the Trip memories so it's not counting time while ignition is left on.
I use Trip A for the current day's ride and Trip B for the whole outing/trip.

That is the strategy I would like to do, but why am I getting such a strange MPG when I clear say trip meter 'A' and then go for a ride?

Clear them both and see if that fixes the issue. Do it while gassing up so you know it spans the correct # of miles.

My 2020 RT MPG data has never been correct. I think it's an unlisted feature. :dontknow:  I do MPG the old fashioned way: miles/gallons.

The electronic "features" on the dash have always been an issue. The early ones also had their "quirks." The pause/start feature for the odometer seemed to be opposite. You pushed the pause button to make it work and the start button to shut it off.

The current status buttons were never used by me. I never paid attention to the MPG calculated automatically. Always used the miles divided by gallons to get an average for the tank. For me, that was good enough.

I just cleared my trip A, B, and total (allowed mpg and speed but not miles). I have ridden about 70 miles and my mpg shows 0.7 in all trips. I hope that means gallons used, not average per mile??

I would say you have a problem. After just a few of miles after a reset it should start showing a close value to the MPG you are getting.

I agree. Something is not right.

I thought something must be off. Thank you both for the reply. Will try and reset the A and see if anything changes.

I know that I am getting up in years... BUT, the dash & its various configurations are the most, by a large margin, the most confusing and frustrating that I have ever attempted to use. For all practical purposes I only pay attention to the speedometer, fuel level, outside air temp, and gear selection. After being in the motorcycle business since the early 70's, I find this is totally inexcusable, this is really the only shortcoming with my great '20 F3 L.
