i did it, know i'm not the first but still happy about it

for sometime now i've really wanted to change my oil without the close to 200 mile round trip not including the cost. so yesterday i dove into removing the panels and changing oil and filter. in all honesty no where near as difficut as i had thought. after looking everything over i'm really wondering if this was actually done when i had the dealer do the 3'000 mile service i couldn't really see any evidence that it had been done, oh well i know for a fact it's done now at 7,960 miles

Congratulations! The first attempt can be intimidating but necessary Tupperware removal. You could have gone another 4,040 miles since your Spyder could go 9,300 miles after the first, 3,000 mile, oil change.

Which jack does one use to change the oil? I have a nice transmission jack to remove wheels and such. Will this work?

i have the J&S jack, that i used for my Harley when i had it, bought the spyder adapter since i already had the jack. but i sure made a mess when i drained the left side ha took me longer to clean my mess than it did to change oil and filter

Yes this jack will work great, I have been using it for several years to perform all my Spyder maintenenance.

I use the same Jack. Works great.

That jack will work fine. You just have to be a bit careful how you position it. Get it as far forward and under as you can. But watch out for incidental contact with parts that can't stand up to being jacked. Not difficult, just pay a bit of attention the 1st time til you get it in the right spot.
