as most of you know i am trying everything i can afford to eliminate the heat on my 13 rt/s. so togday i ordered the cat bypass from pitbull and i have the heat tape to wrap it. now my next question is, does removing the air box and putting the smaller filter on it also reduce the heat undet the Tupperware, this might be my next project to help get rid of heat. thanks for any info

It made my wife's bike cooler. She has the new filter and mine doesn't. We switched towards the end of a ride the other day and first thing she said about mine was that it was hotter.

catbypass & airbox removal?????

I have done the catbypass and wrapped the header pipes both have helped some with the heat however I believe the best help for the heat would be remove the airbox to allow more cooling air to the engine area[this is ultimately the problem] with heat and gas fumes.that being said I have not done the airbox removal yet for fear I may need a fuel controller at that point. anyone with input to this topic please chime in.

The big question is..... does doing the cat bypass AND the air filter mess with the spyder's tuning causing codes?

I have seen some people report that issue but do not know if it is 100% true or not?

I myself am debating on one of the two... but which..... I have not decided on.

on the 13's but the air box and pipe change on our RS did make a big difference. I do have all the spyderpops cooling mods and just add a swiss cheese effect to the bottom panels. and have one more mod as soon as the parts come in...:thumbup:

well bob i ordered a air box removal kit from kewl metal yesterday and i am figuring between that and the vents i have plus the cat bypass i ordered that i will wrap with heat tape and and the new software update that was installed that something has to help the heat.
to be honest i really hate the fact that we have to try things that cost us money to fix a problem can am knows exists, just so we can ride a very expensive bike we own. and i feel i have fallen into the trap brp has created that we make changes that they should be doing to our bikes and we are not bothering them about their responsibility, oh well i said some of the things i wanted to say about brp but like most people if the things i do help i will be quiet and get some riding time in this summer.

Just curious

I started looking for answers about heat problems with the 2013 RT on the right side and boiling gas in the tanks with excessive gas fumes. So is this thread telling me all models have excessive heat issues and that the owners are fixing the problem out of their own pockets? Seems like CanAm should be doing a recall or a service bulletin at least.

Well, the gas cap issue was answered in another thread, guess I just needed to do more reading. Anyhoo, I feel better now.:shocked:

There is currently an ongoing NHTSA investigation on the gas fume and associated fires problem. Currently awaiting BRP to fork over the requested information. The current (already extended once) deadline for that submission is Feb 20th.

Yes, many owners have taken matters into their own hands to fix rather than not ride the bikes.
