• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Gotta hand it to the CA DMV for salesmanship. I was going to pay my $10 for the PTI (permanent trailer identification) on the trailer I tow behind the Spyder, due every 5 years. You can only mail the fee in, no internet. But wait, there's more: you can elect to go non-op for $20. Huh?

Would you mind explaining to us non Californians? Why would a "permanent" thing be good for 5 years? And what the heck is "non-op" ??

RE PTI: It refers to a Permanent Plate that does not require a year of expiration tag to be applied and a permanent reg card vs getting a new one every year....

non-op is for when you don't plan on using the vehicle/trailer for the year or longer....

It gets better. A FB friend told me that the DMV person wanted her to get a smog certificate on their tent trailer. They went to another window. Re the PTI the DMV notice reads "This fee insures the maintenance of your PTI record on the department's database." It didn't mention what the definition of non-op is. I assume its when its not hooked up to the bike. Well Duh...

Your first mistake......

You do realize you're trying to "REASON" with the DMV, right? You know, as in a government agency?!!! :banghead:
