• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How long before it won't run with bad throttle body?

I am about a thousand miles into a new throttle body. Out last weekend went 120 miles with cruise set at 70, rig sputters into a nose dive but then recovers. Exit freeway, stalling, running rough, won't engage when throttle twisted. No discernable information is appearing on the dash, but this rig has been shy about talking about when it doesn't feel good. Make it to my destination and leave it set for a few hours, with fingers crossed that it will start and get me back home. Started right up acted as normal, no incident, return home 120 miles with cruise set at 70. I can take it to the dealer, 200 mi round trip and they will most likely tell me after a few days that it is acting fine, which will result in at least 2 more 200 mi round trips (and this is with an additional rig to get me back and forth).
Anyone have any experience with how long first symptoms appear to when it won't run?
Anyone use BEST towing even when it still is running, will they do it? Just looking at maybe having it delivered to the dealer, would save me one round trip.

My 2010 RT had pretty much the same issue with the throttle body when I was in Sturgis and it pretty much fixed itself and never gave me any trouble after that. That happen twice.

How do you know that it is a bad throttle body this time? If you have read an active fault code that indicates a problem with the throttle body, the dealer can surely read it, too. Give them a little credit and get it to the dealer so it can be diagnosed and dealt with. Because of the previous nature of your problem, it could fail completely and without further warning. I would not stretch this one out.

The first time my throttle body went bad it let me ride about another 50 miles and then the thing just wouldn't start. The second time was on the way to Spyderfest. But it let me make it down and back, only recurring a few times which was cleared by turning the ignition on and off several times. I was fortunate that Scotty and Nancy passed me on the road on the way down to MO and gave me the comfort of company if it quit completely. But when I got home the dealer installed a new one (#3).

Mine started messing with my mind last September...
Every once in a while, it'd get cranky and pout for a spell... :gaah:
I finally got it ino fro a replacement this June...
Now the TPS is another matter entirely! :yikes: When the throttle body was acting-up; it'd choke and pouke, but I could usually coax it back into the game afte a little pleading...
The throttle poisition sensor just shuts the bike down NOW! As in; no warning, no limping, no nuttin'! You're coasting baby! :yikes:

P1614 came up intermittently for me, never while on the move, always after a longer trip.....300 400 km and shutting down. Thenthe next morning it runs rough unburned fuel smell

sputtering and shutting down

Well I had my run with the 20101rts sputtering and shutting down. It would happen after I was riding for about 20-30 min. I would be getting off the hwy and slowing down and it would just cut off.....vary upsetting going 30mph and coating down an off ramp.made a few trips to the dealer and they replaced the o2 sensor and the evap can. but ut still would cut off....not all the time just every now and then. So I started to pay attention to where i got my fuel from.. and that along with Lucas ethonal treatment. i have not had an incident in the last 3 months. I am a big beliver in Lucas now. I use it on every tank. I hope this helps.

Several key on key off and two tow in's and it got to much for me, complained and in shop now for replacement....2011 RTS. clicked send by mistake in previous post sorry......
