• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How important are those front brake spring clips??

my 2021 came thru without one of the front brake calipers having a spring clip. The dealer will only sell a pad kit. How important is the front brake spring clip? The threaded rod is tightened properly. The spring clip is the circular wire clip the slides over the rod and stays next to the rod threads.

Pretty damn critical from an 'ensuring ongoing Safety' point of view or they wouldn't be there in the first place!! . It shouldn't be something you hafta 'buy' if your bike didn't have it on delivery, but since it's a 2021 bike & I assume you've ridden it for a while before discovering this, how are you going to prove that it wasn't there on delivery?? :gaah:

You could try emailing or calling BajaRon (see his Vendor link on the Home page here! ;) ) he may know where to get them from in your part of the World? :dontknow:

Good Luck!

How did you find out that you're missing a brake clip. It's not obvious unless you're diagnosing some kind of problem.

I don't think the spring clips affect your ability to stop the Spyder. The clips keep the pads in place to avoid "chatter", so the brakes don't squeal during use.

Three options come to mind.

1) This could be a warranty repair since you have a 2021 Spyder. I'd go for this first.

If that's unsuccessful, you have two alternatives

2a) Buy the clips from Ebay, as Bfromla has suggested.

2b) Use a "shmear" on the back of the brake pads designed to keep the brakes from squealing. A cursory search found this product from Loctite. Others products are available.

Good luck. Keep us posted so we know how you made out.

Are you talking about the clips pictured in the posts above, or the small clip that goes on the pin that goes through the pads? If it's the small clip that goes on the pin, you can find a small e-clip at any hardware store that will snap on it and serve the same purpose.

The spring clips keep the pads from trying to chase rotor. You want to keep the pads lined up with each other and centered in the caliper. If they were not important why would the manufacturer spend money on them ? Your dealer should have gotten on that right away.
