• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How fast have you driven you Spyder and under what conditions?

Hi there all

I have at last been brave enough to get out of first gear, and in the coming weeks going to try for 3rd. ( if I am brave enough)

Have now reached 29 mph and getting scared.

Any advice ???

:roflblack:

Have it shipped to Germany and tell the truck driver to deliver it to an Autobahn Enfarht of your choice. Jump on and enter the Autobahn and you will be up to speed very quickly.

Riding with a guy that does 130mph up on-ramps to the freeway (hard to merge at that speed) it really doesn't matter how fast you've gone unless you get caught!

Nice looking home made...

head stone.

Will these machines really do 130?

I was testing my dual exhaust a few weeks ago and zipped it right up to 95 but the r"s were getting a little high. Must have been the gear I was using. I must be a good cook my SO said I shouldn't ride that fast at my young tender age.

Speed

About 115 mph---Don't know how much more it had left.:dontknow:
Seems a lot faster than the same or greater speed on the Wing.

OK, I just have to ask.

Why would anyone admit anything like this on the web? The info stays here forever. What if... ??????????????

.

You're kidding---- right???
I don't see how posting s top speed out here could bring any trouble whatsoever.

That being said---- I've hit 128 on more than one occasion - on different roads. GPS read around 5mph less. The bike still had maybe 5-10 mph left in my opinion.

With the bigger CHAD installed I've had trouble getting it over 120mph. I've hit 118 a dozen or so times----- me likes the SPEED!

I've had mine up over 110 a bunch. But twice with a good tail wind 123-125 started to get a little bounce in the speedo needle. Had more throttle ran out of RPM's :ohyea:

Nope, not at all. Let's say you have an accident... your fault... and the opposing counsel does a little research to determine your driving habits.

This stuff never goes away... it is archived on multiple servers and will be around for years.

Common sense should prevail but... you go right ahead, Mr Firefly.

I would think all of that could also be found in the Spyder's computer.
All newer cars/trucks have tattle tails,:spyder: I'll bet there's one in the Spyder.

You would most likely be right. This sort of stuff is most likely stored in the computer. My automotive tech teacher told us a story of how he had to retrieve computer data from a car that had ran off the road, off a bridge, and killed the occupants. The data revealed that the brakes never engaged and it appeared that the accident was deliberate.

Be careful out there guys! :lecturef_smilie:

I don't think the Spyder will do a true 130mph on flat ground. I've been near 150mph but not on the Spyder. 130mph on ramp runs were on the Suzuki M109R.

I've been to 120mph on the Spyder, that was speedo, not GPS. I felt like there was more but I've not been on a legitimate wide open run on the Spyder so I don't know for sure what mine will do.

Things like windshield size seems to have a big effect on top speed on the Spyder. I suspect windshield size may also have a big effect on fuel mileage as well.

Guess I don't live life worrying about such things. If my excess speed actually caused such an accident - doubt I would be around after the fact anyway as I would be a road pizza-- lol.

I'm also one that would openly admit to a cop if I were speeding. Been pulled over in my car for speeding and cops will respect you more if you're just honest and tell them how fast you were going. When I get a ticket for speeding --- I don't fight it---- I admit and pay it - so I'm sure I already have records on file of my need for speed---- lol

107 two up and 118 single - both times, long straight multi-lane roads with no traffic in either direction. Felt like there was lots left, but that was enough for me... and the one time each was enough too. Been there, done that - now I'll take it just a bit easier.

top speed

with 2000 miles on 2009 ,,108 is top end on mine...I was told the Rotax engine isnt broke in yet but I'm still dissapointed. btw,, the ONLY thing I am dissapointed about with the Spyder:spyder2:

The fastest I have gone on my Spyder was 110 during the test ride. The guy from the dealership got on a Yamaha crotch rocket while my FIL and I got on the Spyders. He took us down the main road a bit and then turned off on a side road that led to a boat ramp. He took off like a rocket, so we decided to keep pace. I also had quite a bit of throttle left but am not sure what it would have topped out at. One of these days I am going to find a place to test the top end out for it though, perhaps a track somewhere.
