• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How far did you travel to get your spyder?

530 miles . . .

. . . one way to get my GS.

I rented a lift-bed trailer. The trip should have taken 8 hours one way, but a horrible acident on I40 shut it down for about 5 or 6 hours. The dealership/sales guy stayed late, sold it and helped me load it. Rain, snow, icy roads, high winds, construction, and accidents, short naps at rest stops - it was a fantastic trip!!! :p

Got home, unloaded the Spyder and took the trailer back - exactly 24 hours. I could have done without the accidents, but like many difficult things in life, it remains a memory I always smile about and treasure.

Hi Whitetail

Re: Anyone else travel a long way to get your spyder?

I bought used. According to Mapquest it was 981 miles; I had it shipped home.

We went from Bakersfield to Lake Elsinore. 185 miles each way twice. First time to examine the Spyder ST-S, the second time to pick it up.

I believe i may be traveling about 10 hours to get a spyder RT, one of the salesmen at Pitbull powersports offered me the best deal trade in wise on my RSS, so i think i'm gonna have to figure out how to get it to them. Anyone else travel a long way to get your spyder?

60 miles one way. Beautiful ride, little traffic.

In March of '08 I flew 828 miles to Fort Lauderdale and rode back 1,150 miles back home to Tennessee. Well I had to try it out! [emoji51]

We traveled about 325 miles round trip to buy our new 2014 RT Limited. It was the best deal by almost 5000 dollars. There is a big variation among dealers, We don't need a reason to ride that far anyway. All day on a Spyder is a good day!;)

I Outran the Snow

Drove the 2011 up 26 miles and came back with the 2014, hurrying up on the leading edge of the incoming snow storm, just made it with a few flakes falling. Will drive 50 miles one-way for the service.

About 50 feet, from my front door to the street.
Same here, except it was from the garage door to across the street! :clap:But that was after Haulbikes trucked it 1768 miles from WI to ID! I bought mine used off Craigslist. I'm fortunate to have two local dealers, both well thought of by other Spyder owners. One is about 20 miles and the other about 20 miles beyond them.

Where did you go?

My Dealer

My dealer is 45 miles away. Went their Thursday, looked at new F-3 nice.Aso looked at a 2014 RT . Wife says she likes our 2012 RT Limited . So guess we ride it at least another Year.

Rent a trailer with a drop gate and trailer yours down there and pick up the new one and trailer it back. If you can take another driver with you it makes it easier as you can take turns driving as the other rests.
You state that you have a car hauler, but it maybe less hassle to deal with a rented trailer with drop gate.
Me I would find a way to drive the Spyders there and back, but that me.
