• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How do you mount/dismount

My wife has the Utopia back rest and that gets in the way of swinging her right leg over the seat when mounting from the left. Here is her approach....

Put the right foot on the left driver foot peg, then swing your butt around toward the bike and put the left foot on the left passenger foot peg. Then, whilst standing on the passenger peg, lift your right leg and swing it up over the front part of the seat.

Seems awkward but it works!

If you're climbing onto an RT, the "fun" part comes regarding getting whatever leg you're not pivoting on up and over the ttrunk... Most of us load and unload from the left because that's all about horses and motorcycles... Now that we've got options... whatever floats your boat baby! :2thumbs:. I always have my Missus mount last and dismount first so that I don't clobber her with a boot!

I mount from either side. While standing on the ground, I just step over the drivers part of the seat. But then, I'm 6'4.

That's great!!! But, "smallish" horse. Tall rider!! I couldn't see over my Thoroughbred/Shire crossbred. He was 17 hands. Me, I'm 5' 3"!!! None of those bareback methods would have worked!

Pretty cool video, though. Ahhhhhh, to be young and "springy" in the joints!!!nojoke

It depends on which side the hitching post is on since I use the hitching post to vault onto the horse, opps I mean bike in one flying motion.... If no hitching post then I use the passenger footrest on the left to help clear the utopia backrest more easily.

Like others I mount from the left, I rode horses for many years. My wife mounts from the right after I've mounted, she uses my right shoulder for leverage. Note: I stand on the pegs while she mounts. This is easiest for us. I have also scrapped the seat but that's gonna happen. What ever works for you...

Mounting an RT...

I mount from the left, but use a slightlyl different technique. I place my toes on the footpeg, and my heel on the left passenger board. I found that I can more easily swing my right leg forward and over the seat. :2thumbs:

The real trick is when you have a passenger and you're trying to avoid giving her a roundhouse kick. Sometimes I wish I had adjustable foot pegs because my inseam is 30" on a 73in body. How our Enabled SpyderLovers manage is an inspiration to us all.

Simple solution...Jennifer guides my foot so it doesn't hit her when I mount up or dismount. She mounts up first and dismounts last.

On the Spyder i mount/dismount either side, On my two wheelers i mount/dismount on the left side [low side]
This way i get on the bike straiten it upright, hit the kickstand up and go.

Your Jennifer trusts you WAY more than my Kathy trusts me... :2thumbs: Since I mount up first and dismount last, she uses me as something solid (well... Flabby solid!) to lean on for support...

Nancy mounts first and dismounts last on our Spyder. She climbs on the driver footpeg, sits high on the seat, then moves back. I mount from the left using the driver peg. I get off first, giving her room to get down. She uses the passenger footboard when dismounting, though. Different process for the BMW. She mounts first there, using the passenger pegs, but can't get down that way since the bike is no longer on the centerstand. I have to stand and brace the bike, while she dismounts. The Spyder is definitely easier!

All Aboard!

We mount from the left, a holdover from 2 wheel days. When it's just me, I step on the passenger footboard for greater height and swing on over whilst gripping the bars with both hands. When it's us, Sandi mounts first, stepping on the LH peg and swinging over, balancing on the bars. I then mount up stepping on the same peg. When we stop, I dismount first, then Sandi. This is the way we did it on our Wing, and works great for us.

This may sound a bit like a commercial but it isn't. One of the major functions of my Seal FloorBoards is to give me a large, solid platform to stand on. I mount on the left side but place my foot forward of where the foot peg is. I have a Utopia back rest on my RT. I fold it down, swing my leg over it and then stand the back rest back up while standing firmly on the FloorBoards. I seem to be able to dismount without bothering the back rest. It works great for me.

Same

Yep I use the same basic "approach" that John (seal floor dude) uses...mostly mount from left...old habits die hard and having ridden many miles on horseback...normally always mounted left...altho there were occasions I would mount that 4 legged friend from the right. NOW I would need a box to stand on!!!!:dontknow:
