• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How do you clean your Spyder?

How do you clean your Spyder? With a bucket, hose, & dish washing liquid?
Or do you use a spray-on detailing solution, complete with micro-fiber cloth and soft-bristle brush? Do you clean it after every ride? Or, more importantly, is it clean before every ride?
My wife jokes with me as I labor over the various nooks and crannies (she brought me an old baby bottle brush to clean inside the muffler!) I remind her that this my first bike and everyone pampers their first!

I have the same question. I'm having a problem with just spraying everything down with a hose. What about the seat and the gauges?

Yep, I use a waterhose, a bucket, but I use a automotive detergent that isn't as hard on the paint as dishwashing detergent is. I also use a different plastic cleaner for the flat black parts. I try to clean it at least every weekend.

Everything is weather proof. I just use a light shower as opposed to a direct, high-powered, jet. I also am careful to dry immediately when finished.

I use, water(bucket to wash, and hose on spray to rinse, soap, elbow greese, microfiber, and Mothers Wax(on all except shield-gauges and pipe).
Hope its clean before ride, I also use a soft toothbrush to remove any wax which gets into the cracks and crannies.

I prefer to watch and supervise, but I have no one to supervise, which most likely is a good thing...:joke:

S-100. Spray on, rinse off. Use a blower to remove residual water and prevent spotting.

bjt and I also use the old hose and a bucket and brush with autowash soap. I also have a small bottle of detailing spray I keep in my trunk with microfiber clothes.

You're a Cajun and you ask that question??? Just kidding. With us living in the desert (no sticky mud, etc) I just hose the dust off and then go over each panel with a wet sponge and wipe off as I go. The windshield gets a Pledge wipe treatment with the micro-fiber cloth and then I usually wipe all the plastic with the micro-fiber cloth I did the windshield with. It shines really well. Then...I have to ride it on 2 miles of dirt road to get to the Interstate-8! It's a no-win situation.

Wukka, I use a blower to get rid of the residual droplets as well. Started using that on my Harley years ago since it removes the water from between the cooling fins. Works great, and the wipe-down process becomes less tedious. I also love the Quick Detailers (Mother's, etc.) and I have always used Plexus on plastic windshields. It works the same as Rain-X does for glass.

Providing I don't get behind a manure spreader in VT on a single lane road
I use plane water and microfiber.
after a big trip I use H-D sunwash :spyder:cleans up nice and takes about 1/3 of the time it takes to do my glide.

Depends on how dirty it is. If its really dirty like it is right now i'll take the hose and auto soap to it. But i always tend to use some quick detail spray and wipe with a micro fiber cloth after to make sure i get all the water spots that might have formed and to give it that nice shine.

Try prop wash.....:doorag:

With the Phantom kit I just use a wet Micro-fiber towel and some spray on wax for the clear coat parts from a can that I get from the dealer really never gets that dirty just the rims from brake dust.

Shouldn't have any problems with either of them. Many Spyder Ryders have traveled a combined thousands of very wet miles without any problems from water. The pressure from a water hose is good. I Simple Green the engine whenever I change the oil. Keeps it looking good.

spray with hose if need to and use a quick detailer of any kind with a microfiber rag...

The plastic you don't have to worry about...but metal should be cleaned off once in a while...

Mine hasn't gotten extremely dirty yet - just dusty, so I use an auto duster (like a big swiffer) and then windex and a microfiber towel for the bugs.

:ohyea:I just use a bucket with soap and water, lightly hose it down with the hose in spray mode and dry it with a shammy :chat:
