• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How do I turn off the keyboard sounds in the iPhone?

The new forum software has a VERY annoying chime when typing in Safari on my iPhone. How can I make it stop?

Yes, those are annoying. I get them too, running Incognito Chromium on a Linux Laptop. I got a switch close by that kills the external speaker system, but that is not a real solution. It only pings the tones on certain key presses. That means it probably has something to do with some special function keys. The annoying tones only come through with key presses on the left side of alphabetical letters and the entire lower row of letters from z to / , no matter if the shift key is pressed or not. The rest of the keyboard is silent.

Further investigation reveals the probable culprit. The Christmas theme background where the Christmas balls emit a tone when certain ones are passed over by the mouse. I believe when the forum goes back to a different background theme after the holidays, that the key press tones will go away too.

The annoying tones are even present after switching to Tactical mode on the forum style.

A work around for now is to lower the speaker volume to near zero. The key press tones go away.

The key press tones are definately the same tones produced by moving the mouse over the Christmas balls at the top of the screen when the volume is turned up. The higher the volume, the more keys produce the tones.
