How can you verify a warranty

I seem to recall a thread on here a while back where someone purchased a demo model from their dealer only to discover that instead of the full 2 years BRP warranty, they had none because the dealer had activated the warranty with BRP, thus starting the clock running.

Is there someway to verify if a demo model does still in fact still carry a full BRP warranty other then simply taking the dealers word for it.

I called a dealer and gave them my Vin number and milage . They let me know the bike had 3 year warranty with a year left on it.
