• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Houston: We've got a Problem!

That looks like the trip arm for a switch, Bob, you might check the switches to see if something got broke.

I'd like to blame the bike... but it's three years old with almost 16,000 miles on it, and I did take it on a rough unpaved road and driveway last weekend... this one's on me! :opps:

Hey!!! On the bright side of things.........you found the problem. You're but a little time before the fix.

:agree: It was definitely a good news/bad news deal...
"Honey... I found the problem; it's gonna cost us money!"

We've got a problem

I am so glad I visit this site I learn soooo much about so many things, good luck Bob:doorag: this could cost as much as 2 dozen roses plus 2 dozen roses for the wife.:opps:

I'm thinking the two dozen roses for the Missus, AND two dozen donuts for the Tech at the dealership! ;)
He's ordering the stinkin' $32 dollar switch (that'll need a couple of hours of shoptime added to it), and I've got a Thursday appointment!

Bob, I have replaced the switch on my RS (also because of my own fault) and if the RT micro switch is anything like the RS, than it's very easy to replace it yourself.

Grind of the head off of the two rivets and unplug it (plug located approx a foot behind switch) and replace the switch with rivets or two vey small bolts. Piece of cake on a RS but I'm not sure how difficult it would be on a RT !!!!!!

Thanks for the vote of confidence Randy!
The switch is pretty much buried in the bowels of the RTs... :yikes:
You really can't easliy get at it from the bottom; the catalytic converter is right there for toasting your knuckles...
If you pull Tupperware for top and outside access; you're still reaching down into the mechanicals from about where the passenger footrest is...
This is one that I'm going to let the professionals handle; I've done all of the damage that I'm capable of already! :roflblack:

lo.... too funny Bob

but at least now you know..... still weird that it would just drop out like that.... I mean, alll the vibration the bike goes thru, how/what/where/when was that item doing?

and I am going to pull the catalytic converter out sometime... not so I can get to the switch, just to remove it and the heat that comes from it (plus give some added growl to the sound of the exhaust system.....)
