Houston: We've got a Problem!

when mine did this i found that when i pushed on the pedal and could hear the switch click with just a little movement.
I looked by the lingage and there was a black box. if i pulled on the box a little the brake pedal would move more before the light would come on. I pulled on it a little at a time untill the back light would go out when every the brake padal was released.
I do not know if this will help you but be carfull.

Sounds like the box the switches are in.

Is that the bugger up under there that has a couple of wire harnesses attached to the perimeter of it?

this really isn't part of the braking system; it's more light the bake lighting system...
I'm pretty good at making notes about what I changed, and how to get back to the base setup.
Besides; what could POSSIBLY go wrong? :dontknow:

I'm an old pistol shooter and reloader; making changes doesn't scare me...
note the original condition
make the change
note how that change was made
review and document the differences made in the operating condition...
It's really just that easy!

The part that scares me is my lack of vision and tactile sensation... :shocked:
But I've been bombing around that microswitch for a while; there's room to wrestle with it! :2thumbs:

Tip: don't print any of the 'fuel system pages' could be hard on your eyes!

It's not good; not good at all...

Well this hasn't turned out like I had hoped. :shocked:
Armed with some info about looking closer at the microswitch that activates the brakelights; I started investigating.
By that rear "bell-crank" kind of assembly that the connecting rod hooks to, is a tin "shield that has two switches hooked to it. The wiring wraps up and around the shield, and then upward and rearward into the bowels of the bike...
The REAR switch handles the lights; the front one (NEVER TOUCH IT!) handles brake system pressure...
The bellcrank is what hooks to the rear master cylinder. It aslo runs close enough to the rear switch, that a little arm from the switch contacts it to turn the lights off and on...
As I was under there moving the rocker back and forth in an attempt to get straight in my mind what could be the next step...
THIS PIECE CAME FALLING OUT OF NOWHERE!!! :yikes: No... the pen wasn't in the switch; it's just for scale!
My best guess now is that I just had a switch self-destruct... The next callis to the dealer to see what the damages will be, and if they think I can ride it up there somehow to deliver it... :gaah: :cus:
