There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Hot thighs

I am new to Spyder lovers and have recently purchased a 2014 RT S. I'm really enjoying my Spyder but today I rode several hundred miles and I had a problem with my thighs getting really hot right by the glove box. What can be done? Any help is appreciated.

Are hot thighs accompanied by exhaust popping on deceleration, or increased exhaust smell while idling? Might be a failing exhaust gasket.

Though not required by '14's and later, I've heard of several who installed the '13 Heat recall vents which helped push more cool air under the side panels, making them cooler, the scoop inlet under the arrow below.

go to www.airhawk.com and buy the "R" Version Cruiser seat cushion and solve your problem, they have a 60 day full refund if it don't solve the problem :bowdown:

I had the heat kit installed on my 2011. Although it was designed for the 2013's I believe it fits your 2014 as well.
it stopped a lot of the blasting hot air that was coming up between the seat and the glove box.
The kit itself is under $70.00. I paid 1 hour labour for the install. Well worth the cost to me.

This is the solution. Did it to both of my 2014RTLs. It comes with heat shield material for that area your thighs are closest to. Works.

Grump, I have a 2016 RT-S and have the same problem here in Virginia, even today. That should change for the next 6 or 7 months in two more days.

You're in Arizona, you're screwed.

Part Number for kit?

Do you have a part number or link for 2013 Magnesium STS??

tia,

I have a 15 RTS mine was warm in an around glove box. My thighs and crotch were warm. I got the scoops and now it's always cool in any temp. They look cool to.

You're right about the scoops looking cool. A guy with a 2014 RT came up to me at a coffee shop the other day. He wondered what year my Spyder was because of the scoops.
I explained it to him and he said that he doesn't care about the acoustic panel modifications but he's going to order the kit so he can have scoops.
His spyder is white so it should look pretty cool.

Try the scoops!

I installed the scoops (pics in another thread) on my 2016 RTS. Big difference in heat near the glove box. The kit is only $50 (which is amazing). However you gotta drill holes in your tupperware. You'll probably miss one or two spots, but they get covered up. Also the plastic is cheap looking, I used black plasti-dip to paint them before installing. You can see the shiny plastic above - was already scratched up with tiny scratches out of the box. Kit comes with stick on insulation for the tupperware also, that helps keep your legs cool. Works great so far, glove box stays same temp as outside now instead of baking my phone!!
