• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

If they are are installed and crimped properly, they will not leak. It does take a special tool to crimp them. My Thunder Mountain had them on the oil lines when I bought it. After 10 years they did not leak. I installed and re-routed new oil lines and after 5 more years I still didn't have any leaks. They are actually superior to the hardware tighten with a screwdriver clamps. Maybe someone in a hurry on the assembly line.

Thanks, Jerry!
Oddly enough; I was also going to volunteer "oetiker", to this conversation.
But your link clearly trumps me!:bowdown:

Had the same type of clamp on a BMW S1000RR oil cooler that leaked. Ended up putting a regular clamp behind the factory clamp and problem solved.

Hi Bob,

Re: Thanks, Jerry!

No thanks necessary; we both want to help where we can.

Re: But your link clearly trumps me!

I know of them only because they are used in the parachute industry also.

More info is far better than too little info,

Jerry Baumchen

Thanks & agree with rushed assembly line guy. Fyi my repair was covered warranty thankfully didnt cause more problems. But held out for 25k miles. & ive never used that type before so know i might be a biased redneck. Thanks everyone for sharing

Contrary to Bfromla's experience and thoughts, Oeticker clamps are very good actually. If they leak it's because they were not installed correctly, or were not selected properly for the hose and barb size. That's all I used on all my PEX plumbing in my house. Almost all of the clamps are inside walls where leaks are very bad when they occur.

The standard pincer above is not exactly the best tool but no question it'll work. You just have to be careful to get the crimp done correctly. I used one of these. pretty hard to not get the crimp correct when using this one. It won't open until the clamp is completely crimped.
