There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Honoring my buddies

All winter I have been thinking of putting -

"IN MEMORY OF" across the top of my Spyder trunk

then the dates and names of all the guys that were killed in my unit while we were out on operations. I Knew all of them and were good friends with most.

Under their names I want to put "NEVER FORGET"

There are forty names. I was not out when seven of them were killed.

Can't decide if it is right or not.

Honest opinions will be appreciated.

Thanks

My 2 cents

Alright. My quick 2 cents worth. If that is something you want to do to honor your buddies. Getr Done.

BOB, My honest opinion, nothing good came out of Nam. I can't even bring myself to visit the Wall. There is nothing right or wrong with what you want to do. Unless looking at those names are going to bring up the dark times. Believe me i understand how you feel. I did my time in hell 66/67.

Who said he was talking about Nam ?

I think it's a great idea - make the Spyder yours--- and honor your pals at the same time. Nothing wrong with it at all.

It's a personal decision...if that's the way you feel, go ahead and do it before this gov't restricts everything we do! :yikes:

one way to look at it

Bob, I don't think it is a matter of "Right" or "Wrong". It sounds like it you are talking about something deeply meaningful and important to you.

Try thinking of this in the perspective of your Golfballs In A Mayonnaise Jar posting, and I think you will have your answer.

I think if I were doing it, I would have the bottom line read; " I Will Never Forget ".

Tom

I hope you do this...

Bob... I congratulate you for honoring your buddies. I know that many do not know the true cost of freedom... I hope that the youngest generation come to realize how expensive freedom really is... /Ken

Remember

Remember what all of the vet's fought for, FREEDOM. FREEDOM of speech, if this helps you remember your dear friends then do it. It's for you, not for others. We all have the right to remember our friends, family the way we think is right. I never live my life on what other people think of me, only the thoughts and prayers of my family mean anything to me. I'm sure the family members of these very special individuals would not be upset with you. Isn't that what the wall is all about REMEMBERING all those individuals. I don't think the family members would be upset with seeing their loved ones names their. Not that Nam was handled correctly, but War is not fair. I have a son in Iraq and I support him and all his soldiers for what they are doing. When the Commander and Chief says go you go, if you think it's right or not, this is the vows you took and you knew that going into the service. I pray for all of them, the parents, grandparents, husbands, wifes, children of every soldiers. This is only my opinion, I appreciate every thing the future and past have sacrificed for this country. Love them and remember them the way you feel right, again for you, no one else. I support your decision. Take care and I thank you for your sacrifice.

Thanks

for everybodys' response. Thought I would get some negative opinions.

I have only ridden with my son except once, this past October since the mid seventies. I think Ryding with everybody on this forum would be a pleasure.

Boborgera if you get to upstate NY I would like to ryde a few miles with you!!

Tom I think "I Will Never Forget" is perfect.

Dukester - Hope your son gets home save and soon.

Firefly - It was Nam, I'm old. Although it doesn't matter which war, none are good, thanks for your comment.

My fear is that people wil think it is about me instead of those that gave their life, and it is truely about not forgetting the lost.

Thanks,
Bob

Please take a look at the Patriot Guard web site (patriotguard.org) Their are vehicles that HONOR those who serve and protect us. The Members do the same.

What do the Families think ? How about them rembering your face and name, three years you took part in the burial of their Son.

War is HELL, No matter which one.

It started years ago and still true today.

ALL GAVE SOME, SOME GAVE ALL.

I think it is an outstanding tribute to those brothers in arms that you served with. I also think the "I will never forget" makes it deeply personal and reflects your true feelings.

The bigger issue here is that this is your Spyder, and you should do with it as you see fit. Do not worry about what anyone else may think of it. I know there are those out there that do not like what I have done with my Spyder, but that is fine as they are not the ones ryding it.

So, if this is a tribute that you want to do for your brothers, then go for it. :2thumbs:

On a side note, you have my support all the way. :D

BOB, don't know if this will bring back bad memories? When I'm asked about NAM, What was it like, I tell them watch Billy Jole's video Good Night Saigon' And listen to the words.

On a lighter note i think i was near you last Aug. I followed my son ,him on his Busa, me on the Spyder to Tug Hill. He's a snowmobile nut so we were looking at some property on a snowmobile trail. Haven't found any thing yet, still looking.

closure is closure ..... i do tattoo memorials on people all the time..... if it helps it helps..... for what ever reason ..... do it
