• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hitch Questions

What's everyone using for a hitch the Factory OEM or has anyone used the ones off EBay?? looking to put one on my wife's 2014 STS. Thanks much for any advice.

If it were me, (which it ain't...); I'd use the one from BRP. It maintains your vehicle warranty, and comes with all of the necessary wiring hook-ups.

I bought and use the Show Chrome hitch, I bought a complete kit on Ebay. The kit came with the hitch, the ball, the mudflap, the separate relay box and relays for all trailer lights, and a 4 wire adapter if you need it. Total cost was $260.00

Super easy to install, installs without removing rear axle or tire, and can be removed when not trailering without removing main hitch brackets.
I towed my Bunkhouse XL camper for over 4,000 miles last year without any problems, I had my bike in at the dealer for the 3,000 mile maintenance the dealer complemented me on the hitch and installation, he never mentioned anything about the warranty.

However I have not had any warranty work done on my bike yet either.

HITCH

...Warranty BS...You are protected by the Moss-Magnusson Act.....and IF you are the nervous type just take it off before you take it to the dealer...................I highly recommend you look at this Part # ES 2376 or 2508L on the Auto Zone web site cost $ 10.99........I use this instead of the normal Ball & Coupler Trailer connection it works the same as the Bustec design for about $ 100.00 less.............And I wouldn't tow a light-weight trailer without this type.................Mike

...Warranty BS...You are protected by the Moss-Magnusson Act...

Yes; this act protects you from having the warranty voided on parts of the bike that aren't affected by the "non-sanctioned" parts.
If you add the hitch, and your grips fall off; they'll be covered.
If you add the hitch, and have a problem with the driveline... :dontknow:

....And Robert since you don't have APPROVED TIRES ...they will say it all starts from the ground up...sooooooooooooooooo where does that leave you...........:dontknow:....I try to avoid scaring people unless they are about to do something outrageously stupid..............Mike

What did everyone use for a wiring harness I see Show Chrome makes a plug and play but it looks like it's for the RT model only? Thanks

Mike, neither of those part numbers come up on the AutoZone site. What exactly are they?

......I received some PM"s about this......for some reason it doesn't immediately compute.....go back and try again.....when it shows a PIC of a " tie-rod " , click on that and it will work......The one on the left is the one for us.....and you will notice the PART # is the one I gave for it......why their computer can't find it ,:banghead::banghead::banghead: is a mystery.................The way this works is ....the long threaded part goes into the Trailer tongue ( instead of the coupler )......the short part you put into the " L " bracket ( instead of the BALL ) and use a NYLOK nut........This type of connection helps prevent damage to the drivetrain of your Spyder because it removes any SLOP from the connection...........Mike

Overlooked rear light

I went with the BRP hitch. The factory hitch kit comes with a different rear light and license plate mounting. Any hitch will block the plate and light when riding without the trailer in its stock location. The light is moved up onto the rear fender. Personally I want all the rear lights to be seen a well as possible. I also don't want the local law enforcement giving me a bad time that my plate is not visible in their opinion. May be a small detail to some but I have not seen the aftermarket address this. The RT's don't have this issue because their tail lights are mounted on the rear trunk. That is why the ST/RS hitch is about $50 more than the RT kit. I don't believe that BRP would have added the light/plate without having to meet compliance issues.
