• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2013 RSS SE5 has weak/broken paddle shifter springs - anyone else??? Anyone have extra parts for the internals? Ideas on where to get them?

Howdy all - 2013 Spyder RSS SE5. My Paddle shifter has weak/broken springs in the mechanism. Currently using a cut down ballpoint pen spring, but I need something a little more robust. Factory spring for upshift was broken when I acquired machine, likely due to it sitting in the elements for years getting exposed to lots of moisture. Anyone else have this issue? Anyone have extra parts from the internals of one of these switches? Any ideas where to get replacement springs without trying to acquire a decent used piece for big $$$$$$s? Thanks to all in advance!

Hi @FogHead, welcome to posting on the Forum! (y)

I don't know if you've searched first to see if there's any more info on the Forum about shifters for your RSS, but check out the thread listed below, in the 'Similar threads' panel, it might have something in there to help.

That one thread aside, which is for a pre-2013 Spyder, there is more on the Forum already if you search on 'Paddle Shifter' (click on Search, up toward the top right of the page, then type that phrase ^ in; check the 'Search titles only' box beneath the Search field, then submit the search and check out all the results) Admittedly, most of the existing threads are for pre 2013 Spyders, but there's still a fair degree of commonality in the internal components for the shifter itself, and the entire Left Hand Control Module (generally called the Left Hand Handgrip by anyone but BRP!) is basically the same from 2013 (your model) until about 2018/19 across the entire model range, then I believe there's still a fair degree of commonality in the shifter components from there on anyway, so some of what's been posted here already might help.

Still, I suspect you'll probably find that your best/cheapest/easiest solution is to look for a an entire second-hand Left Hand Control Module that's in good nick; anything from 2013 until 2018 should be ideal, while anything newer might work, but the labels on the buttons will probably be different. You can generally find used parts like that on eBay or Amazon, and maybe even etsy or marketplace, but here in Oz, they are far more rife with scammers than the others.

Good Luck. ;)

Yeah, it's just a home remedy. They go limp after many years. You've already learned how to take it apart and put it back together. That's the hard part. Here's a thread describing installation of SS springs from Amazon.

THAT right there is the ticket! MANY thanks! And yes, disassembly is definitely the tricky part.
