• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hindle Silencer

Hi Guys,
For the last few months I have been researching information on the Spyder and thanks to sites like this one, I finally know that I will get one of those new '09 models next April. So much information here, nice work. :congrats:

I was surprised to read on BRP's site that the Hindle Silencer isnot street legal considering all of the owner pics I've seen that had one. Isit really not street legal or only in certain states? Can someone clarify that for me?

Thanks much.

Very few, if any, of aftermarket exhausts meet the noise restrictions from the feds. That's why they're typically marked "for off-road use only".

That being said, only a few states actually check the legality of what you've installed.... YET.

.

I think another issue is that the stock pipe has a catalytic converter and the performance pipes do not have catalytic converters. The EPA or similar agencies probably don't like the aftermarket pipes.

exhaust

i have been looking at "mbrp.com" their exhaust has a different type of packing they say does not wear out as quickly. [some of the hindle users have said that the hindle gets louder after only a few thouand miles]. also the mbrp exhaust packing is easier to replace [$25] as they do not use rivets that have to be drilled out. they also have an optional insert
[about $25] that lowers the sound level about 4-5 dbs.
so just make sure you look at all the options before you buy.
take it from a spyder rider made who the exhaust mistake on his 1300vtx honda.
