Highway RPM - F3T vs F3L

Just changed from a F3L to a F3T and was wondering how much difference in cruising (70 to 75)
rpm I may find ??

IIRC, there were only a few (earlier) years where there'd be any difference - most US Spec Spyders these days all have the same set of drive cogs/sprockets for their belts, and I reckon it's only the differences in belt length between the F3's & RT's that mean there's any rev differences for a given road speed there too! :lecturef_smilie:

Not that I can recall off the top of my head what any of them are right now - but you did ask how much difference in cruising revs you'd find.... and unless you've been riding one of the earlier F3's that did come out with a different rear sprocket, the answer to that question should be NONE! :thumbup:

I have a 2016 F3T and my wife has a 2017 F3L. My RPMs at highway speeds are about 500 more than hers. The difference is due to the different rear sprocket.

It all depends on the year model of your F3L and your F3T. The 2016 F3L was the only year with the larger rear sprocket and will be about 500 rpm higher than a RT or later model F3L. The F3T had a large rear sprocket until either 2018 or 2019 (2018 I believe). That is the year they went with a smaller rear sprocket. Now the only ones that get the larger rear sprocket are the F3S.

You are correct. But keep in mind that the higher RPM will not necessarily mean worse gas milage. I actually tend to get better gas milage. I have also noticed that on my 2 wheeler, I get better gas milage when keeping the engine in the optimum rpm range instead of having it in a higher gear and lugging the engine.

At the end of the day and ride, I usually will need 0.2-0.3 gals more over a 5 - 6 gal fill in my T than the L; that's about 5% more gas for the same number of miles ridden.
