• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

HIDs question

I had the ESI HIDs installed yesterday and was wondering if anyone has had this happen or have heard of it. I must say beforehand that I have zero knowledge on how this works so figured I would ask the experts. I do plan on calling the shop back, just wondered if maybe anyone knows what the issue is.

First, I must say that they do work just fine. Both lights fire on start up no problem. The issue is this. After I hit the MODE button to start my Spyder and it starts, the computer does its diagnostics check all over again such as all the lights on the cluster light up, both needles do their sweep and it again asks me to press the MODE button before starting. Through all this though, the bike doesn't shut down.

I had a few stops yesterday on the way home after installation and so far, the bike runs just fine with no stalling issues or anything when it does that second check after start up. I am just worried it may leave me stranded the next time.

Anyone ever heard of this happening? Thanks in advance for any ifo you all can give me :D

Start without fog lights, turn them on after 20-30 sec after the engine is running. Make sure the battery is fully charge. "Second diagnostic" issue could be a "bad pin" under the cluster (if they remove and reinstall the display).

I don't have any fog lights yet and yes, they did have to remove the cluster to get the bulbs in. Thanks for the info! :D

Edit to add that the battery is fully charged and working ok. I always keep it on a tender when not riding.

Pardon my lack of knowledge, but when you say ECM module, do you mean the cluster? I think the ballasts were mounted up under the dash right above the cluster.

Cow Town Might have gotten this Street Magic HID Kit from Custom Dynamics, but being we no longer sell to dealers this HID kit did not come from us here at ESI. :dontknow:

However, I'm sure if Cow Town calls CD they can help them out no problem.

I had a similar issue...new ballasts fixed the problem. Oh, check out your relay number 2 first...if that doesn't fix it, the ballasts might be faulty...

As of yesterday, the problem has become intermittent. Sometimes it would do a double sweep and sometimes not. Now though there is a bigger problem, my Spyder is dead in the water :(

When I hit the start button I get nothing but some noise. Guess now I will have to find a way to get it to Cowtown as I don't have a trailer. I was leary of getting the HIDs at first, maybe I should've went with my gut and just pass on them :(

Sucks not knowing how to work on my bike. If I knew how to I probably wouldn't feel bad.
