• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New to the Spyder

Last weekend I rode a 2021 Sea to Sky 500 miles in 3 days and it was amazing.

July 2,2023 I had a massive stroke at 44 years old. I got very lucky in both where I was and my recovery (link to video below) but it has slightly limited the use of my left hand. I have been riding since I was 16 and am a Patched/Branded member of the Widows Sons Masonic RA who rode Tail Gunner most of the time (IE Crazy) ..Due to nerve damage in my left hand I can no longer pull the clutch on my electraglide without pain. One of the brothers suggested I try a can am and as luck would have it another brother was selling his wife's Sea to Sky. They let me borrow it for a rally last weekend and I was beyond impressed with it. Probably the most comfortable bike I have ever ridden distance on. I am planning a trip for later this year to take it 7300 miles touching 25 of the states starting in tampa Florida looping through Vegas and Santa Monica up the west coast back through Sturgis down to MIssouri to visit my grand parents through Ohio to see my parents down through Savannah (to touch both coasts) and back to Florida. I look foward to interacting with everyone and reading about your adventures and sharing mine. I thank the Lord that a machine like this exists that will allow me to keep riding and not have to give it up.

Welcome aboard spades. Glad to hear (& see! ;) ) that you're doing so well after that stroke, and that you've found Spyders, Spyder Ryding, and Spyder Lovers too!

Until something like this happens to you, it's often difficult to actually realise how events/incidences like those moments you experienced in & since July last year can even occur, let alone make such a massive difference to your life; or how they can reveal so many loving/caring strangers, let alone the members of your family and all the friends that surround you; and how much of a difference all these people can make in your life, not only in those moments, but forever afterwards, even if you never see them again! It's clear to me that we really are Social creatures that are part of a Broader Communty even if we don't know it! :lecturef_smilie: :ohyea:

And you might be surprised at how many of us here have had somewhat similar experiences to yours; check out the Enabled SpyderLovers sub-forum for their stories, as well as many tips & mods/accessories that others have found to help them get the best from their Spyders/Rykers:

https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?128-Enabled-SpyderLovers

And it's always worth reading the Unseen Disabilities thread/Sticky too:

https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?93827-UNSEEN-DISABILITIES

Maybe you'll feel something amongst all that and everything else here can help you expand and add to your story?! Regardless, good to see you here! Enjoy..

Thank you so much Peter. Without the outpouring of support from the people around me I am not sure I would have made it all the way back. It very much revealed for me who I can count on for sure. I am very blessed to have the support of these people and thank you for the forum suggestions! I have some reading to do for sure!
