• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New to Spyderland

Hi All,

My name is Pete, and I am a long time MC rider considering a Spyder for two up touring.
Have owned 3 Goldwings over the years along with several other makes and models of 2 wheel fun.
Most seem to put a smile on my face when out and about. The Spyder RT seems to fit in with our
desire to continue longer distance tours. So maybe trade in my bike for Spyder.
I have done some research on the Can Am site and visited my local dealer. They do not have a demo unit
so I am going to wait for the demo truck come to our area next month. In the mean time I figured to join
the forum to research and connect with Spyder community.

Welcome to the forum Pzman. I hope you enjoy it. You can find lots of good information here on the different models of Spyders and Rykers in the different areas of the forum. 3 wheels will be way different than 2 wheels. First there is no clutch lever, only a push button to shift, than there is no brake lever to stop only a foot brake pedal, when you turn corners, you have to turn the handlebars, so keep that in mind when you go for your test ride and you will be fine, go slow and enjoy the ride. It takes time to relearn to ride 3 wheels after riding 2 wheels because it is so different and you have to retrain your mind because things are not the same. Don't reach for the brake lever for a quick stop because it's not there. Good Luck shopping I hope to see you around the forum soon. :2thumbs: Live to Ride, Ride to Live!!.

Thanks , I just signed up for the 2 day Can Am Basic Rider course in my area. They happened to have slots open for this weekend.
BRP supplements the cost of training to the school and also RMV will grant 3 wheel license to those who don't already have standard MC license.
So I get to ride their machines, learn controls, parking lot exercises etc. for $99. Not bad! Figure if / when I go to purchase I will at least
know basic operations and have a better sense of who they run.
