• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hello All

My screen name is Deruida, I am a mechanical engineer by Detroit Michigan. I have a 2017 f3s Daytona 500 model M6. Had to get because my wife didn't like leaning on my last bike. I believe all is stock, but the former owner changed out the rear shock for an adjustable one. I'm adding a 3rd party rear top case, for peace of mind that my wife will still be there after I accelerate. I guess I could get one of those shirts "If you can read this... the ***** fell off". I can ride on two wheels, but even I feel safer with just how planted this this thing is. It has a heck of a pull when you get the rpm's up. I'm just not used to the high rpm's. At 70mph It's at 4050rpm. Please tell me it is normal. The only thing I don't like is it seems the exhaust sounds like a "tuner's" car exhaust. I believe it is a stock exhaust, but I can't be sure. The color scheme reminds me of the autobot character bumblebee so I guess I'll call her "Bee". Also because at speed the exhaust reminds me of a nest of angry bees.

Welcome to the Forum deruida!

Those revs are normal, if not a bit low (manual gearbox maybe??); and you REALLY want to keep the revs up to try and keep the lazy 1330 Triple engine awake - it doesn't really get up & boogie until it's over at least 3500 rpm, despite it having scads of torque right off mark! You're right about that stock exhaust, it does make the thing sound like an over-revving runaway sewing machine - there are alternatives tho, and a couple of our Sponsors do some really good Cat Delete pipes that help with that without making things too loud, while also reducing the under-Spyder heat and improving the engine's mid-range pull.

All that said, as SpyderBOT asked, you really shouldn't ask questions here, as only a select few of us visit this section regularly - so now that your username has turned Blue, like SpyderBOT's, you can go out into the more frequented pages and read/post away - only please do Search FIRST before starting a new thread - the Forum's been here for a fairly long while now, and there's not too many questions about Spyders that haven't been asked and answered at least once in the last 15+ years! ;)

Have you checked out those links SpyderBOT posted?? :dontknow: Well worth a read, even got some info about the ideal rev range in there! Just make sure you're looking at the 1330's revs, and not those for the higher revving, more exciting & responsive 998 V- Twin!

Looking forward to seeing you out there soon! :ohyea:
