• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hello....and looking for help...

Hi All.. I'm from Massachusetts...

Got my 2015 Spyder from my dad when he passed in 2021... I can definitely see why he enjoyed riding so much..I've definitely put more miles on the bike than my dad had during his time....

So if this next part should be posted elsewhere I apologize and will repost......

So the other day, I rode into work. Bike had been idle for about 2 weeks due to rain and colder weather... Started fine at home, took about an hour ride before work. Got into work, forgot to set the parking brake so it made the beep reminding me of such. I went to turn the bike back on and nothing. Turned the key, display lit up, safety message came up, flicked the toggle switch and when I depressed the started button... Crickets... Not a click or anything.

I'm not as mechanically inclined as some so I'll most likely get it trailered to local repair shop before winter storage but any ideas here folks? I'm thinking starter but.....

Thanks in advance

Bampa

Hi Bampa, welcome to the Forum! :2thumbs: Sorry to hear about your loss, losing a parent is always a hard thing to get through - but at least he looked after you by leaving you a great machine to remember him by every time you ride!

However, you probably won't get too much of a response posting a question like yours ^^ in this Welcome section, simply cos not too many of us come in here all that regularly. :( Which is at least partially why SpyderBOT wraps up your Welcome post with:

(it's the last line in the post just above yours. ;) ) Still, while ever your username remains Red, as it is now while I'm posting, you can't post anywhere else anyway :p You won't be able to post anywhere else until all your joining processing & checking is done, at which time your username will turn Blue - which shouldn't be too long, it rarely takes more than a day - well, not unless you've made it really difficult to find you & make sure you are who you say you are & at least vaguely legit anyway.

Buuut, re your problem, what you've described really does sound a whole lot like you've got a dead or dying battery, you don't also keep it on a battery tender when you're not ryding do you? I ask, cos that often hides dead/dying batteries until you stop once you're a fair way from home, then can't start again! These Spyder things are notoriously power hungry, and even just a slightly off battery can trap you like that! Still, if you do a bit of searching & reading thru all the existing threads here on the subject (just type 'Battery' into the Search field up toward the top Right of the page, click the 'Search Titles Only' box in the drop down list below that field, then submit the search & pick a thread or 60 from the resulting list! :p ) you'll probably find more than enough info to get your Spyder sorted pretty quickly.

Looking forward to seeing you out there posting on the more frequented pages pretty soon! :ohyea:
