• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hex Screws

Pardon my non "tech" terms. I am not very mechanical.

1. Does anyone know what "size" and thread the hex screws are that hold the mirror "arms" on? I have a 2010 Spyder RS SE5. The hex screws need tightening and the previous owner has burred them over. I am sure I can get them out, but not sure I can tighten them much longer.

2. Once tightened, do these mirror "arms" still have a bit of "give" to them? I find that they really do "rattle" when hitting anything other than pretty smooth pavement.

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Torx

On my 09 the screws are torx. The biggest screwdriver I have is a T-30 which fits all the body panel screws, but is too small for the mirrors. I would guess the ones on the mirrors are T-35's.

Just remove one of the bolts and take it to a hardware store. They'll tell you the metric size and pitch. The length you can measure yourself. It's going to be hard to find a replacement. You probably won't find a torx head bolt anywhere locally to match. You may have to order it. Your BRP dealer may have one, if not go online to McMaster Carr. If they don't have it you may have to switch to a hex head which won't look as nice but will tighten easier.

The mirrors are not a great design. At first glance it looks like they were designed to manually retract like some car mirrors but if you try (and many people do) you'll break off the small detents that hold the mirror arms in place. Then you'll have to over tighten them to get them to stay put. That's probably what the original owner did on yours.

See, told you I wasn't "mechanical"! Torx they are! I will look locally and see what I can find.

Thanks for the replies!
