Looking here at work at a angle sensor off a Chevy truck , the steering shaft of the column is flat on both sides and rounded on top and bottom. Half to look and see if maybe giving the hole where the shaft goes through maybe little clearance on the contact points , giving little movement in the shaft to sensor contact and several degrees before it actually engages the sensor . The trick is gonna half to be keeping the sensor centered and having a light spring tension to keep the sensor center until the shaft engages it
