• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Well, after a night of craziness in NYC riding thru Times Square and being detained by the police right in the middle of Times Square (some BS mandatory MC checkpoint!- which actually worked out great for parking ;-). )---------

We had some problems.

Going thru a toll I noticed a bolt in the rear tire of one of my HD buddies bikes. We checked it and it's holding air - made it to New Haven CT and called it a night as it was 3:30am. So tomorrow is Sunday, then the 4th on Monday so we're concerned about getting him a new tire.

We're considering removing the bolt and plugging it until we can get to a dealer.

Anyone know any good HD dealers around this area or near Boston?

I know many are open Sunday's but doubt they'd do service- do were looking at Tuesday before a fix most likely.

In addition to that another HD buddy had a bag sidecase pop off on these 'great' CT roads. Destroyed the bag and contents.

Spyder running good but was 5 -6 bars all day- even at night once it was 74 out.

Anyway - any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Several years ago when I was stationed in Maryland I discovered a screw in the rear tire of my Goldwing. I contacted the dealer about repairing it and he sold me a bottle of New Balance and instructed me to put it in the tire and then go ahead and wear it out. Not sure if that was the best idea however it never went flat. Don't think New Balance is available anymore however I suspect it may be the same as Ride On.

That sucks!!!

I would contact local riders through the Harley Network.
Good chance one of them would have a tire and a tire changer, or at least it is easier to find the local shop to install a tire.

Good luck!

...and being detained by the police right in the middle of Times Square (some BS mandatory MC checkpoint)...
:hun: They don't have them up here..:dontknow:
Could you pick up a tire plug/patch kit and do some roadside R&R.. Tire plugs have served me quite well over the years...

I hate saying this, but I doubt that you'll find a shop open on a Holiday weekend. Good luck though!

Thanks for all the info. -- looking like our best bet is gonna be getting a decent plug kit and mending it to get us back on the road until we can hit a shop on Tuesday.

Found out the spyder shock wrench works well on HD shocks.

Be careful on the road with the plugged tire. The thin carcass of a motorcycle tire doesn't hold a plug well. The tire can go down easily and suddenly. Travelling more than 50 miles on a plugged motorcycle tire always carries a substantial risk, as does travelling at speed.

Cycle gear has the tire and can mount but we have to pull the rim off the bike as they can't do that.

:2thumbs: sounds like all you need now is a jack or you could use a shopping cart on its side, a crate or you and your friends could hold the bike up while the new tire is mounted. Good luck and enjoy the rest of your trip.

Firefly- PM me your # if you guys need more info/help.....

OMG !!! Say it aint so ??? :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

HDXBONES has the knowhow with HD's.
It was Firefly group.
It wasn't HDXBONES ride.
It wasn't Firefly HD.
HDXBONES have a Spyder in the family.
Firefly Spyder runs flawlessly.
Question:
Who brought them together? The Spyder or HD?

If the chicken was first then the Spyder brought them together
If the egg was first then the HD brought them together.

Ponder this.... HDX knew Firefly was going to be in the area. Maybe that bolt in the HD tire was actually ment for Firefly ??? :yikes::yikes::yikes:
Can anyone place HDX at the seen of the crime or at a local Home depot ??? :roflblack::roflblack:

One thing is for sure............ Firefly and his riding group should buy HDX some oil for his help !!! :roflblack: Great job HDX for setting your differences aside and come to the rescue. This is truly a great day for us all.

Glad we got to help. Well I didn't actually "help" I sort of stood around gabbing while the men did their thing but it was great to help someone out and I'll tell ya - Firefly and his friends were cool and fun to hang out with.
