• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

HELP with HID Install!!!

Last month I purchased the Xtreme HID from Xenon Depot for my 12 RT-Limited. Today while trying to install the kit it became very obvious that I either ordered the wrong kit or I don’t see the Plug & Play part. My spyder was equipped 9005 bulbs so I assumed, and we all know what that makes me, that I would use the 9005 (4,300k) kit. Please let me know if I ordered the wrong kit or am I having another senior moment.

If someone could point me to Lamont’s DYI on installing HID lights it would be greatly appreciated[/FONT]

Thanks,

Ed

Ill try to sum up. I'm going off memory here so sorry if I miss something.. Not a difficult install, but their instructions are non-existent. Take off your side panels. Take off the front headlight surround. Remove headlights. You will need to undo the headlight adjustment knobs on either side behind the radiator panels to do this. Remove the back panel off the headlights. Drill a hole just large enough for the connector to fit through on the back panel you just removed. Mine came with two wires that you connect to the battery. I connected the positive directly to the positive terminal, but the ground (black) I connected to the ground point on the gas tank instead of trying to fight the actual battery terminal screw. If you have your own fuse box somewhere. Run these wires to it instead, it'll be easier. Those battery wires run to a couple of ballast boxes. In the hole where your headlight is, you can see the back side of the speaker wells. This is where I chose to mount the ballasts. Clean both your chosen mount point and the underside of the ballast with an alcohol wipe, then apply the includ sticky pads to the ballast and mount the ballast in your chosen spot (again, I chose the back side of the speaker wells). You may wish to cut a small square off of the adhesive pad first, and stick the small block in the wiring on top of the ballast. Remove the light bulb assembly from your headlight, and install the new one. Be sure not to touch your new light bulbs with anything other than the included nitrile gloves. Connect everything together. There is a rubber piece on the cable going into the headlight that you use to fill in the hole you drilled on the rear headlight cover. Replace the cover. Mount your headlights, turn on and test.
