• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am so Aggravated!! I picked up my 2013 RT LTD from my dealer after the recall and the 600 mile service that they RAPED me on. On my ride this weekend I noticed that the right hand side access panel had flown off:banghead:. I checked the LH panel(where the dipstick is) and sure enought the idiot tech had not put it back on correctly and it was almost off as well. So I put it back on the RIGHT way and headed out to see if I could find the one that flew off. UNBELIEVABLY I found it. It was a little scratched up and the chrome piece that is screwed to it was broken off!! I am so PISSED!! Now What?? My dealer are a bunch of ass-clowns. They can't do anything right... how should i get this piece replaced? should I call BRP?? Try with the dealer... suck it up and try to find it somewhere else...thoughts??

Thanks

Try the dealer they may surprise you and do the right thing. Since it is the right side you may be able to convince them that it was their mistake that caused it to fly off. Good luck.

It happened to me and I called Brp after I was told by the dealer tech. Brp gave me voucher for the part. I had a lot of post on it in the past if your interested you can read them.

Deffinetly..!!

start with the dealer...this has happened more often than many think. If you get nowhere there go to BRP. There were some posts on installing lanyards to prevent loseing the panels as well as secureing them better..good luck..!!

If you're not going to start at the root source of the problem; don't expect any satisfaction...
Good Luck; please let us know if they make it right for you!

I had similar issues, with my original dealer. Luckily , I received a dealer survey just after it happened! I rarefied as zero ! They called and asked why . Explained to them, regarding , poor quality of service , changed dealer and they corrected everything, no cost to me.
Original dealer changed some personnel , did a shuffle , don't think it is going to help . Asked me to come back in a couple of months , after new guys were trained. No way !

This is why I do most of the work myself. But you really must give them the chance to get it right. Good Luck!

Can't do the recall myself.. I did call the dealer and VERY nicely explained the problem to the SM. He said he will look into it and call me back by the end of the day. We will see... He did ask what color the bike is...

If the dealer was responsible (and it sounds like they were), they should replace the damaged part. Fortunately, you found the missing panel. Hold the swear words and just talk with them is the first step. Then go from there.

Whenever I bring my Spyder or any other vehicle in for service, I always do a careful walkaround to make sure there are no scratches, dings etc. Some people actually take before and after pictures. When I pick up my Spyder or other vehicle I perform the same walkaround before driving it off the lot.

The last two times I brought my Spyder in for service, I found loose panels on both sides before driving off. I re-installed them myself and notified the Service Manager.

I talked to the dealer and he said he would take care of it. He is going to order a new panel and wants the old one back.. From now on I will do a walk around and tug in panels... Lesson learned. I am happy that the dealer is going to take care of the problem. Really relieved...

i lease a car every 36 months and every time i drop the last car off i take pictures at the dealer showing the dealer and the mileage so there is no problem. better safe than sorry

The tricks with the panels are to:

A. Make sure the grommets don't get pushed through. A little spit or water as a lube helps.
B. Make sure the little hook at the back of the panel (front for some early RT's) is engaged with the panel below. Failure to engage the hook is the cause of most panel losses.

What happened to Bike Pre-Trip before each Ryde people. Like the little card above the computer screen says!!!! :banghead:
Each time I bring my Spyder in for service, My dealer always dose a careful walkaround to make sure there are no scratches, dings etc. & When I pick up my Spyder I perform the same walk around checking for loose panels before driving it off the lot. & I let them know what I found.

Buck what you did is a great Mod!! There is fellow Spyder Ryder here in Louisiana and his yellow panel flew off and it has been 5 months, maybe more and still BRP cannot get him one. I am sure he would gladly pay but he cant get one at all. Your Mod not only saves some money but saves you from riding around with an exposed side. Again love dat mod!(PS: I copied it:D)
