There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Picked up 2010 RTS yesterday, and with all that was going on I can't remember how to open the front trunk, now 500 miles away from the dealer, my manual and dvd is inside of the front trunk. Please help, my boyfriend and I so frazzled over this, we are ready to fight, that plus driving so far in the holiday traffic. Quickly please:helpsmilie:

Try calling Lamonster. His phone number is at the bottom of any of his posts and he has an RT so he'll be able to help you as quickly as anyone can.

PS. I thought RTs had an electric trunk release if the key was in the on position. One of the buttons right in front of the handle bars.

You push in the key and turn it about 1/8 of a turn counter-clockwise. At the end you have to exert a little pressure and you'll hear the latch under the hood release. Had the same problem today with my new RT! :roflblack:

There are two ways with the RT. Like the RS, you can push the key down, then turn it counter-clockwise. There is an icon on the switch to guide you. Pushing down and turning the opposite way will open your seat, so you can refuel, BTW. The other way is to push the trunk opening switch when the engine is running. This switch is on the left side of the console, above the glovebox. The trunk switch is the opposite end of the parking brake switch. It has an icon, too. One other note, if the trunk doesn't open easily using these methods, the latch may need adjusting...and almost certainly needs lubrication. I would tell you to look in your Owners Guide, but I know it is locked in your trunk. You can access a copy via BRP's Spyder Owner Center, though.

push key down turn counter clockwise if an rt electrik release on back of switch for park brake, only works if engine running. But if like mine if the lid has not been closed staight it jams and takes a good pull to open

Help can't get trunk open

Pick up new 2010 RTS , they put manual and dvd in front trunk, now I can't get the trunk to open. I don't remember the salesman ever showing me how to open it. Is there a manual pull to open, incase there is no power to the switch to open? Where are the fuses? I am over 500 miles from the dealer, can't get to fuel tank, so I am really stuck. Help sooner than later.:helpsmilie::(

You had several answers to this when you posted the question mistakenly in the "Support & Testing" forum. Here is my answer from there.

Frunk won't unlock

Scotty's instructions were "right on". When trying to open the front trunk, I have had to push dpwn on the trunk lid, just forward of the windshield, and turn the key to the left at the same time. I need to get around to fix that problem, but the frunk doesn't leak water.

can't open trunk

Thanks to all that answered, I am new to posting also, as well as my bike, Yes, the latch is supposed to be electric, and that is just it, there is no clicking sound or anything when key is turned and the button is pushed, could it be that the fuse for that is blown? Noe, to find out where the fuses are, guess I will have to wait until Tuesday and call dealership. I can not ride right now anyway due to neck surgery, but, it would be a great time to read up on things and study the dvd. Great holiday to each of you and thanks again.

Looks like the members have you covered. Auto latch only operates when motor is running. When I forget that part, while standing on the left side of the bike, I turn the key with the right hand and lift the trunk lid with the left. The latch seemed to become smoother operating with usage.

The latch is electric only when the engine is running and you use the switch. Just having the key on won't do it. The latch works via cable, by pushing down the key and turning it counter-clockwise, when the engine is off. You should be able to get into it readily, but like others said, you may have to push on the trunk lid if adjustment is needed. being out of adjustment can cause the electric latch not to release, but sometimes you just have to hold the button for a second (remember, you must be stopped, with the engine running). You may not hear a clicking sound, the latch is very quiet. Pull up on the lid to see if it is unlatched. Download the manual off the BRP site and you can study it without getting into the trunk.

What I have found is some times the pressure of either a slightly mis-aligned latch (or in my case pressure from stuffing the trunk with too much stuff) can also cause the lathc not work either with the electric switch or by key (which is really a cable).

My solution:
Press down on the trunk where the latch is... very top, center of hood. While pressing down on the hood latch, use the key... its hind of awkward, like a twister game gone bad. But that shoul dlet you in and adjust the latch.

Have you tried all of the above referenced methods to unlatch the trunk ??

If you turn the key, or hit the button and you don't hear the trunk unlatch, chances are, it's already unlatched. Sometimes, the damn thing sticks, even though the latch is opened, the trunk sticks closed. If that's the case, a good tug will open it up.
