I have a 2010 Spyder RT with about 10,000 km on it. I bought it used at 7500 km . From Aug. until late Oct. when I parked it I did not have any problems. Now when I fired it up the last few times this year I have been getting a "LOW OIL" message and it will go into LIMP mode. With engine fully warmed up I have checked the oil level and it is right on the full mark (no foam). I pulled the code and it is showing a P0524 which does indicate "LOW OIL". I have just downloaded an online manual but I was hoping someone had seen this symptom before and maybe it was just a bad sending unit.
Any one with experience here please let me know if you have an idea what to look for first. I do have a 4 year extended warrantee from a third party but if something simple I would prefer to just repair myself as there is a small deductible. Where is the oil sending unit on these critters?
I would also like to eventually replace my disconnected fuel gauge with a manual oil pressure gauge (I hate idiot lights). I kinda suspect a bad sending unit as the ECM is seeing low pressure to be putting it into LIMP MODE. I would also be surprised if there were no oil pressure.
Any help would be appreciated, I will be out for the evening so unable to reply until late tonight or tomorrow A.M.
