Help Check Engine Light On

Spyder running ruff. Would cut out at about 4th RPM in all gears. Ran it hard for a 1/2 hour. Than its started running perfect. Than Check engine light went on still runs good, but check engine light stays. Checked oil that's full. Any ideas what I should do? Dealer is 80 miles from me.

Double check your oil...I had a check engine light the other day and the bike wouldn't gain any rpm's....checked oil and had to add about 1/2 cup. Finicky machines.

I forget what they are actually called, but there are 2 short vacuum lines on the fuel injection system that are prone to crack. That's the first thing I would check.

Take the key out of the bike and away from it for a few minutes, give the computer a chance to reset, then try it again.

With the key on push the Mode, Set and Turn Signal buttons at the same time. The screen will either go blank for no active codes or you will see codes one letter and four numbers. Write them down and report them here.

Try this..

download the spyder codes app to your smartphone or computer. This app is the best and will give you a wealth of information including how to pull codes (they will not show if you turn the machine off. Flip the kill switch and leave the ignition on. All codes go to storage after the computers re set) what the codes mean and how to deal with them. The one thing that does happen quite often is you will get the check engine light and it will go away and never come back which is the good thing. If the problem was not solved it will come back and it is time to see a pro...Limp mode will limit your speed and rpm's but you did not mention that. :thumbup:

Thanks for all the help and info. Will call dealer in the morning and trailer Spyder to dealer 80 miles away. When I get it fixed I'll repost the out come and what was wrong.

Took the key out and away for a hour. No change Check engine light still on

The oil level on these machines is not that fussy. What you are checking is the amount of oil in the tank. Unless that level was really low and causing low oil pressure, a 1/2 cup won't make any difference in the way it runs and/or shifts. The oil tank is a just a reservoir.
