There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Help changing Zumo 660 harness by 590 without remove console

Good morning!
I’m going to change the Garmin Zumo 660 harness by the 590. Basically because I had from the VTX and maps are from Europe with for live actualizations.
I can see the harness wire and is not difficult to change except cause there is a tire zip under the console panels and I don’t know how to arrive to cut without dismount the console. I’ve been seeing and it seems to be difficult a lot. I think install a new zip won’t be a problem.
Could you help me? Any ideas to remove the tire zip without remove and re-install the console module?
Thank you very much.

I did the same with my 2011 spyder. I simply left the 660 "Stuff" where it was and capped it. I installed the 590 cradle & harness above the dash using JT Thornton mounting bar and a Garmin extension that brought it back to there rear dash lip. Wires were run along the top off the dash and inserted beside the windshield mounting parts. Wires are zipped to the 660 wires and hot wires tapped where necessary. Un plug the wires that plug in and plug in the 590 wires where the 660 was.

The current wiring setup is like that.

What do you think about disconect wires from battery, cut the harness next to the handelbars, push down it to gain space to install the new one, cut the rest of the old harness and install the new one in the same path that old one?
So, I don't need to cut the plastic flange on the steering column.

This is a "mix" between your answers but .... do you think it can go?

Thx.

Done!

I ve changed this morning.

I have cut the cable from the old G.P.S holder and I was able to pull it from below to remove it without removing the plastic flange.
The part of the harness that converts from one to 6 wires is wider for the 590 than so I had to "drastically reduce" :-) and for pass through
the handlebar I had to unscrew it.
Once did it only reroute the wire on the same place than old.

GPS power goes on with the contact and power off 40 seconds after close it.
The only problem is Spyder doesn't recognize as GPS only as "External device" Maybe GPS is too young to be recognized for Spyder 2011.

Is not a great problem cause I use normally with helmet Bluetooth but I'm going to investigate.

Thank you very much for your moral support and sorry for the tedious post! :):):)[SUB][SUP]
