• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

HELP!!! Bad thermostat, where is it, how hard to change? 2012 RS-S

If you have the time you could:

Remove the thermostat from its housing (I know it is a new one) & close up the housing without it in. Run around the neighborhood for a while & see if it still gets too hot. With the thermostat removed you have uninterrupted coolant flow around the engine & radiator.

If it gets too hot, then you can say that it is one of the following:

1) your water pump is not circulating the coolant - impellor or shaft problem
2) the radiator fins are blocked - clean them out from the rear
3) the radiator tubes are blocked - new rad or professional clean

At the moment I can't think of anything else.

Fooled you the thermostat can not be removed from the housing it's all one-piece, that's how they get $70 bucks for it.

Thanks for the input, it's in the shop now waiting for the bad news. They had it all day Saturday, no call no idea...
Not sure how the radiator tubes could be blocked?? Very frustrated :dontknow: jtpollock

Forgot to mention this part, be careful if you decide to haul your Spyder in a rented trailer. The U-haul I picked was a 6x12 thinking it would be wide enough, but the tailgate was around 3 inches to narrow, and I had to return it... Not happy. The next morning, I called a tow truck and had it towed to the dealer, grand total $230...

Is there a heater valve in the bottom of the radiator? If so, I have seen mud clog them up and give a wrong reading for the fan to run.

Is it actually hot? Could it be a bad temperature sensor and it is lying to you and the nanny? Just a thought.

Again, I want to thank all who responded to my post... Turns out it was a bad temperature sensor and a bad wire! The shop back flushed everything, replaced the temperature sensor, and fixed a bad wire - most likely caused by me! Anyway, I should get my Spyder back as soon as the snow stops, with a cost I can live with... snow go away!!! jtpollock
