• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I've always had HJC, and my last was the C-12 Carbon full face. Very comfortable ands very light. I have recently ordered a HJC SyMax II modular from Newenough.com for $209, and based upon reviews, it is another good helmet from HJC. (I thought a modular would be good for the Spyder, based upon the need to immediately answer the expected onslaught of questions!)
I went to the bike shop today and tried on helmets. I fell in love with the HJC AC-12 Carbon full face, it is so much lighter and comfortable than my Gmax28. But they wanted $420.00 for it. I thought I would check them out on line since I knew what size I needed. I found a great deal with no shipping charges. $289.99 from Extreme Supply. http://www.extremesupply.com/ I hope it doesn't take too long to get here.

I picked up mine for $400 from a local dealer about 2 years ago, but you should be able to do a bit better now. The price is due to the carbon fiber construction, which makes it very light and very strong. (The ventilation, during the warmer summer months was also very good.) I'm glad you had a chance to try it on. As mentioned before, that's the best way to choose a helmet.

I just checked the prices on the HJC AC-12 Carbon full face helmets on ebay, and they are running between $200 and $260 brand new. But I don't know what they would charge for shipping.

There are a lot of good helmets out there. The answer is choose the one that fits the best and has the features and price point you are happy with. I have a Scorpion EXO 1000 and love it. There is a site that has incredible deals on helmets and other closeout clothing and accessories. Check out motorcycles508.com The site links to his eBay Store. I have bought from him in the past and his prices and service are incredible.

...bracing for the "freak of nature" comments...

While in Phoenix this weekend I shopped at the best helmet shops in town. I'm needing to replace my 8 year old XXXL Arai Signet - which has caused me a headache and a hot spot on my forehead for all of these years - in spite of working to compress the foam in the tight places. The Signet is a "long oval" design for long narrow skulls. I tried on it's replacement, the Arai Profile, and had a dickens of a time putting it on and it caused pain immediately (not after an hour like my current one.)

A XXXL HJC CL SP - which have a tendency to run big - was too tight in the forehead and way too wide.

Nothing else even came close.

Looked online, couldn't find anyone who makes custom helmets.

Anyone know a good head shrinker? Or other alternatives? :(

You would have thought that beating your head against the wall, waiting for the Spyder to arrive, would have alleviated that condition. ;D

The helmet reviews at webbikeworld.com let you know which type of shell (oval, round, neutral) each helmet has. At least you could eliminate the ones that don't match your head profile. Good luck on finding a good fit. A helmet that doesn't fit right is a real pain. :nojoke:

Thanks...I've been keeping up with the helmet info and reviews on webbikeworld.com with hopes they might uncover something new.

And regarding beating my head against the wall, I was fortunate to not have had a long wait...maybe it would have helped...lol
