• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Helmet BLUETOOTH Communications

Have the Sena 20s and love them. No problems with the connections to each other, GPS, and phone. Recently added the Can Am dongle and had problems with connectivity. Spoke with Motorcycle Dave and he informed me that I couldn't have the Bluetooth of the GPS and the dongle at the same time, said the GPS would come through the dongle to the headset. He was correct, turned off the GPS Bluetooth and all works perfect. Headsets are paired with each other, bike, and phone. Add in parring with others when in a group when needed with no problems.
The only problem I have had in two years was with the button on the clamp that mounts on the helmet that the 20s mounts to. That button quit working and clamp was replaced, never any problems with the 20s unit themselves.

How do you know if you're getting the newest version of the 20S when purchasing it?

The units have been available for a long while now. Buy from a reputable known dealer that sells many units. Kind of like buying milk at the supermarket...

I use the UClear system. I replace my Sena with it because there are no mics to keep moving around and the sound is fantastic.

If you have Schberth C3 Pro helmets, their BT collar is the way to go. Choice of helmet speakers or ear buds. Pairs easily. Works with phones, etc. 2 years on ours and we continue to be pleased. Collar has a USB charging port. Also has internal FM. Buttons on left collar control functions. Works with summer and fall/spring gloves.

We love no longer being tethered (wired) to our ryde.

Sena 20S Updates

I was told that the early 20s had issues with the mounts and also used lower quality speakers. The current version have the same speakers as the better ones in the 10s series, the mounts are improved and other "details" were corrected.

The 30 as I understand it will be a different technolgy. The system will use a mesh technology as it is referred to, apparently similar to a cell phone. Likely more expensive and not adaptable to the other platform.
I spoke with Sena today and the company rep told me that there hasn't been any changes to the 20S system since it was first released in the Summer of 2014. They said no improvements in the design or components, only the firmware updates.

I'm confused because there have been people say that changes were made since the first release of the 20S!?!
ANY INFO FROM ANYONE HERE???

Spyderhands, there are mic's, just don't need a boom. Your best bet is to check out their website and read about how it works as its a bit complex and to non technical people will still be after you read about it.....but it just works once you get the correct mounting spots which is critical. safe riding!

Ask Motorcycle Dave, he shared that info with me. Mentioned speakers and mount on originals had been updated, firmware also, may have been more.

AFAIK, all of the 20S models came with the better speakers. The 10S is the one that had the different speakers, depending on date of manufacture.

I have or had the old SMH10's, the 10C, and the 20S. I moved the SMH10's into my dirt helmets when I upgraded to the 20S models. I tried the 10C (camera version) and did not like the software of the 10C, so I sold it. As I understand it, Sena is replacing the 10C and not working to upgrade the software. The older 10's are no longer supported, but are solid, if dated, units. The 20's are okay. I say okay, because I've had them for a little over a year and neither of my 2 units lasted a year before they started having issues. My unit was replaced quickly without drama, but my wife's unit has been sent back and it's been crickets from Sena for over a month now.

The 20's are a good unit, but do have some niggles. First off, their range is not nearly as far as advertised. If you're two up, no biggie, but if you're on separate bikes, as my wife and I are, then it can be an issue. Secondly, if you wear ear plugs, as I do, then once you get to max volume it beeps constantly with a high volume warning. It is super annoying and will continue to do it if you're even near max volume and not at max. You can not disable that feature. Also, the wonder wheel has very little friction, so with a gloved hand it's very imprecise. The boom mike works well, but the permanent mike is cheap and low quality, so even with a full-faced helmet you need to use a boom.
