Hello New Spyder RT Rider

Hello Spyder people! Patty from New Jersey here! After many years of riding on 2 wheels I decided to purchase a 2011 Spyder RT! I absolutely love it so far but I do have a questions that I would love to get answers to from other experienced riders! Leaning through curvy roads is one area I am having a little trouble getting used to. Can't seem to shake the feeling that the front wheels are going to come off the road. My second question is adjusting the suspension. Stiffen or soften and when to adjust? I have tried both in a parking lot going around cones and so far have found right in the middle works best for me.

Would really like to meet some fellow Spyder RT owners in New Jersey!

:welcome::congrats: on your 2011 RT.

RE: suspension adjust: You don't mention if you have an A & C (no auto suspension adjust or an RT-S with that feature.

If A & C (we have that year), bought in 2012 new. The air suspension adjust is done by adding air to the valve located under the seat. Near the brake fluid cap. Use 50# for a start, and adjust if needed up or down to find your comfort zone. Linda has put 25,000 trouble free miles on hers.

If an RT-S, you have the adjuster button on the dash. It is the one with the picture of the shocks on it. Start with the second highest setting. Up or down from there. I believe you have to be standing still with engine running.

I fought the "Battle of Route 206"; while serving my collegiate sentence in Lawrenceville many years ago...
Do you have any experience with riding ATVs or snowmobiles? They feel the most like a Spyder does, when cornering... :thumbup:

Air bag adjust

Akspyderman and Presioni1964 I have a 2011 RTLtd and if I'm not mistaking, I'm sure the air bag will start inflating only when you put the Spyder in gear. Mine does anyways! THEREFORE, make sure you are sitting on the Spyder when you do this. It can be in park, you don't have to move but it has to be in gear. Like akspyderman says, start with the second square from the top (left side on your gauge). Keep in mind, when your changing this setting it affects the height of your headlights a little bit. Good luck! You will become an expert in no time I'm sure!

PS. You can adjust this on the fly also!

:congrats:....&....:welcome:...... Patti, at this stage of the learning curve ...... just don't lean. The little that is gained is infinitesimal ( in reality ) .... That Spyder weighs 1100 + lbs. trying to lean it .... well it's not going to happen. Just drive it like a car for few hundred or thousand miles and learn how it handles..... then you can get a BajaRon sway bar if think it really needs it ............ Enjoy ..... Mike :thumbup:
