• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Now that ive got an order placed for my SE5... im shoppin for a Helemt.

Im stuck on to weather i should go "Full Face", "3/4", or "A Hog Helmet" ??

Ive seen pictures of full face helmets on spyders, 3/4 is kinda a drag, a Hog helmet i could get into if i knew what it would look like with a person wearing one and seated on a Spyder.. anyone with any pics that would help

thanks !!

I went with a full face helmet. The Spyder is a very sporty machine, and in my opinion, a full face helmet really fits "the look". I got a Shoei Multitec - it offers full face protection (and styling), but the whole face opens up making it easier to put on and take off - not to mention making it easier to talk to people and answer the TONS of questions you will get about this incredible machine.

Have fun with it - I know I am!

full face the way to go and safer too  :agree:
I agree wholeheartedly! I crashed a bike a few years back, and was knocked unconscious for four hours. The front of my full face helmet took the hit, and was badly scratched and gouged. I have never worn an open helmet since. That hit would have been very hard on my face! Besides, the Spyder is a windy cuss, and you will appreciate the extra protection from the elements.

Not to belabor the point but, the Nolan N-102 is the best helmet on the market for the price. It is a Consumer Reports Best Buy and will rate with any of the more pricier helmets. I sell them for $269.95. That is $80 off of MSRP. I sold 175 N-102 helmets all over the world last year. I'm not on here trying to drum up sales. I love this forum and am only interested in sharing honest accurate information with other Spyder lovers.

Not to take away anything from the Shoei Multitec or the Nolan N-102, .... Check out the all new HJC Symax 2 Flip-Front Modular Helmet . I went with the HJC over the Shoei because it has the integrated sun shield and of course the difference in $$$$. The Nolan's sun shield is on the outside of the face shield and therefore subject to more bugs and a concern of mine that I don't think has really been experience but the possibility of wind turbelence and sand and grit getting between the sunshield and the face shield?!

The HJC is loud but since I wear ear plugs, it doesn't bother me. I think it is the nature of the beast however, that the modular flip-front helmets are louder than the full face helmets. I also own the HJC Carbon Fiber full face and love it. You can't believe how light it is and, it is quiet as well. My first choice for pure comfort is the Scorpion EXO 700. I have the EXO 1000 which is their new helmet with an integrated sun shield and the new air pump system. This helmet is super tight and quiet but not as comfortable as the 700.

Definitely go full face - either the modular or the standard one-piece !!!!

I agree ,the symax 2 is another good option. The biggest difference between it and the Nolan is that the Nolan has a quick release buckle and it comes with an anti-fog shield that you can install for cold weather riding. The Symax 2 is a new helmet for this year and we haven't gotten much feedback on it yet.

I have a Shoei Multitec and love it with the Blue Ant intercom system. The Axis Yellow is almost a prefect match for the Yellow Spyder. The Biggest thing is how does it fit your head and is it comfortable for long rides. The Shoei fits me perfectly and the ventilation is good even in the Arizona summer heat. Try them on for size.

I guess Im in the minority.
Im still holding onto my hog "pea pod" helmet.

But taking into consideration that I ride mostly in town and not on the freeways that much.

Hey Bob, can you help me out here? I subscribe to both the Consumer Reports Magazine and website. Search as much as I can, I am unable to locate any tests on motorcycle helmets. I would love to see their review. Can you direct me to the report or, if online, a link to it, please?

Thanks!
Steve
