• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Heat Reduction Methods

I'm in SoCal, and keep most of my riding in either coastal or mountainous terrain. Any desert riding is done during the winter. So, my question is:

To keep escaping engine heat from being excessive, should I wrap my exhaust pipes with a product like DEI makes...or, would a stick-on material like DEI's Heat Shield on the back of the body panels suffice, or do both?

Thanks in advance for your learned opinions, experiences, etc.

Heat is an issue here too . . . . . .

. . . . . I was also wondering if fabricating some clip-on air scoops for the upper grills under the handlebars ( just above the CAN AM decal on the right side ) would push some of the heat out?

The heat under the tupperware is radiant heat, but moving the air across everything and getting the hot air out would help.

I have to check and see where the hot air would go, but maybe somebody already knows. Not much help if it ends up venting under the front of the seat, though it might be OK in the Winter.

Removing the lower spash guards helps a lot with air flow. At speed there is plenty of air scooped into the front. But if there is nowhere for it to exit (or not enough exit space) you don't get the full effect.

Adding intake without giving the air somewhere to go is not going to help.

I don't think most people have a problem with heating at speed. The real problem is low speed or stopped. The fan and small radiator have trouble keeping up in very hot weather.

More air scoops are not going to help with this.

I used the black header exhaust wrap and on the right side. I took a peice of heat and sound interior installation about an 6"x8" pc. and glued to the raditor fan scoop. Works fine for me I live in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. Should work fine for you.:2thumbs:
