There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Headset Pinout

This has been asked before, but i don't think answered.

Does anyone know the headset pinout?

I'd like to try and build a pass through connector to the BRP intercom system that also has an additional connection from the headset microphone to the Zumo 550 microphone input. I think it might be possible to bluetooth a cell phone to the Zumo and use the Can Am headset to talk through the phone.

Any thoughts?

Thanks Roger, that's the closest information I've found so far.

If anybody has a damaged headset, maybe with bad speakers, I'd be happy to purchase it (at an appropriate price) to try to ring out the wires.

I'm still surprised that either BRP or J&M haven't offered some Zumo conversion cable. I know Starcom has one for their system.

Ed Davis here, EdSets. I believe the pinout is the same for the Victory Vision, and looking around, other companies sell the same cable for both. If that's true (I'm trying to verify now with Mark Lawson, and RT owner sort of local to me) then this is the pinout:

Looking into the female 7-Pin jack with the key slot at the bottom 6:00 position, starting from the left of that key, you have

1: No Connection
2: Speaker, Right +
3: Speaker, Common Ground
4: Speaker, Left +
5: Microphone ground/Shield
6: Microphone + (has +7.9V DC across to pin 5 for mic preamp)
7: No Connection to pins, but shield for the cable

Just for completeness, the headset jack connector goes to a small square jack which plugs into the bike's main harness, and with its GREEN wire (N.C.) at 6:00, the outside clockwise colors are Orange (Speaker-), Black (R+), Brown(L+), Yellow(Mic+) and Red(Mic-). A center pin in the middle is not connected.

If anyone can verify that before I ship Mark a new test cable, let me know.

WOW, that's great. Thanks.
Please keep us posted on the progress. I'd be willing to pay money for cable to connect the microphone to the Zumo, and I'm sure there would be others. I'd certainly prefer to buy one from someone who knows what they are doing instead of cobbing something together myself.

I think what Ed should have said, but was too much of a gentleman to come right out and say is that I never use the intercom system (my precious wife has her own Spyder) and there was a high likelihood of 'operator error', which hindered our testing. We normally couldn't get through the VOX short of a hard thump on the mic of the J&M headset I already had. Had the mic and sensitivity settings on the CB screen both at the midway point, and tried different settings up and down from there. Not certain why we couldn't get it to work...

So no microphone cable ???

I think I see why. Pin 6 has +7.9 V DC for a preamp. I don't think the Zumo can accept a powered microphone.
I'm going to have to resort to a MacGyver solution. I'll try mounting a separate boom style microphone in parallel to the headset mic and run the wire down along the existing cord and plug it into the Zumo cradle.
Oh well. It's a suboptimal solution, but I think it's the only one that might work. I tried getting a small bluetooth headset that would fit under my helmet, but it's way to uncomfortable to wear for any length of time.

We shipped Mark out of here with a new test set this last weekend, and are waiting on his comments after using the system for a bit. At the shop, we had excellent CB performance and strong and loud audio on music settings. We didn't test intercom, but sidetone indicates it will be very good too.

Have the part number for the male 4-pole 3.5mm to 7-pin DIN connector? Is it long enough to plug into the drivers DIN connector to the 3.5mm female connector on the helmet?
