• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

heads up dps recall

SPYDERGUY1

got the letter , called dealer , had parts and took it in this past saturday, scheduled to be done today, HA, got the call late yesterday they are unable to do the recall due to the fact I have electronics mounted in my trunk ( alpine deck and aux power socket ? BRP will not pay to remove and replace these items. Fair enough, just wished I knew about this before taking it in. In order for the dps unit to be replaced they have to separate the trunk from the machine. will go back and get spydee and do the removal and then take it back in for the replacement. JUST A HEADS UP for all those with goodies/gadgets mounted in the trunk.:gaah:

Thanks for the heads up on this. I had a feeling that would be the case, and put off adding a couple more mods to the front of my Spyder because of it. I will have to help them with the removal of my wife's trunk to be sure they don't damage any of the wires for the lights that have been installed.

I had figured that this would be the case. I had the same thing when they replaced Nancy's console. I will pull the trunk before hers goes in for a DPS...whenever that may be.

I plan on removing my trunk off the spyder because of mods and talking it down on my trailer when my time comes for them to do the change, but I am in no rush for it anyway as mine has been fine from I got it. The trunk does not need to be on if they also are going to road test it after work anyway.

We just got our three...

recalls... one for each of the 2008 SMs and one for the 2009 SE. I plan to take them to Lake City FL when they have the parts.

Olivia and I hope everyone is having a great time at the BBQ:2thumbs:. Due to unforeseen circumstances we had to cancel our reservations at the last minute. We really wanted to be there, meet all the members and eat some great BBQ. Ken krb1945

Wolfen! You could be at it for a while, brother! You guys are modded to the max. I actually think it's a better idea that you do it yourself so that they don't mess anything up. That's not to say they are clumsy or incompetant, it's just that a BUNCH of work went into getting your machines the way they are today, and the way I see it, nobody knows the ins and outs of things better than you.

Good luck with the DPS change. I really hope it works out for you guys. I have already called and cancelled the appointment for 14. No way are they doing that one! The RS-S was OK, but took a BUNCH of re-learning how to ride it. I think my Wife will really like it though, and that's cool. Like I said before, no two machines are the same.

That's a good thing to know about them not paying to remove any of our "modifications..." Now i'm definitely waiting until after I get mine before any more shopping...

DPS and other things

I'll be taking my '10 RT-SM5 in for DPS replacement tomorrow. The dealer doesn't have one in yet so I'll have to leave it there. In the meantime I managed to put 18,000 miles on the thing this summer and because I was riding so much I didn't have the opportunity to do the proper maintenance. So while I am waiting for the DPS I can have the dealer do the other things..Oil Change (I have kept up on this, every 3000 mi:D), Valves, New Rear Wheel and Bearings, etc. I also ordered some fog-lights so I will have them installed.,

I will also have them look at BRP warrenty repairs..namely Rear Shock leaks air:(, trailer cover dumps water onto my stuff:gaah:,
It is a 300mi round trip to the dealer and back so any suggestions y'all might have would be well appreciated so I don't have to make two or three trips.:lecturef_smilie:

I had my recall done yesterday, 9-23 at Alcoa Good Times, while up here at the SitS. The first thing the service guy asked was if I had any mods in the frunk. Since I don't have any yet, they did the recall, replacing the power steering unit, in 1hr and 50 minutes. They said they had already done about 30. I was very impressed with them and the entire staff, including the owner Charlie and his wife Jill.
I could not have had a better experience. Just wish they were in south GA or at least closer to home instead of 450 mi.
I love the improvement in the steering. It handles much better in the TN twisties. What a great place to give the steering a workout! Very happy.

After talking to Docdoru at SitS, we may also be waiting for quite a while before we take ours in for the new DPS unit. We haven't had any issues, and had a blast ryding The Dragon with the current units installed. I have heard on the GS/RS models you will need to learn how to ryde all over again, and that is something I am in no hurry to do right now.

I may also buy a trailer, or just ryde the 2 hours to the dealer without the frunk on it at all. May look weird and get a lot of attention, but then again the Spyders do that already. :D

When I had the dps installed, they never asked about mods in the trunk. I have a tricled trunk opener in/on the trunk and wired to an eastern mountain co. fuse block under the dash assy. The dealer tech. installed the dps and never mentioned having to remove or at the very least unplug the trunk opener.

SE5 in shop for new DPS

Delivered my SO's SE5 to Lake City, FL for the DPS recall. Called them Thursday morning and they had one kit available. Flew down I75 at 80 for the 70 miles. Original DPS still twitchie as ever... at that speed it really wanted to dart around.

These rotax engines come alive at 6500 revvs. At 78 degrees 3 bars except when behind a car waiting to pass. Four bars during those brief periods. Still have to install my spyderpops kits.

Supposed to get it back about noon today. Can't wait to test it. One down two to go... Maybe next thursday when I call again they'll have another kit available. Ken krb1945
