Headlight running... low or high beam all the time? Which do you use?

I does not matter to me what a person turns on. Me, I want to be seen. I live in Las Vegas and the flognards that live and drive in this area have no common sense. They go where they please and if I could I would run 20 lights and fire sticks to get their attention. It pays to have a deep loud voice so when they do pull out in front of or turn in front of you, you can let them know their bovine heritage.

This is true, people in Vegas drive like idiots (love the word "flognards" though). I ride with high beams during the day and low at night unless I am on a dark country road. I do not have the HIDs.... if I did, that might be a different story then. Something I learned from riding motorcycles.

I ride without the high beams. I have fog lights, but don't use them except for nighttime. I have the ESI fender tipz, which, for the most part, are not visible at all in the sunlight. However, the turn signals, which are on all the time, are quite visible and are a nice addition.

Does running the brights create more heat or burn them out faster?

Does keeping the fog lights on in 90+ degree temps create too much heat?

Just curious as maybe I should run more lights...

No, there is only one bulb filament, so the same amount of heat either way. On low beam a shutter just covers the upper part of the lens.

I don't think so. More heat from just having the foglights...closing the former openings. The engine heat far exceeds any the lights produce. Nancy runs hers all the time for visibility, and has had no problems in 2 1/2 years.

Thanks Scotty. I run mine all the time as well, and haven't had any problems at all either. I am wondering what the life expectancy of the bulbs are though. Have you had to replace Nancy's yet?

When you ride, do you use just the regular low beam headlights? High beam, or HID lights?

If it's daylight, I use high beam HID lights

During the day, my '09 SE5's lights are on bright. (Stock headlights.) At night, it depends upon weather and traffic.:ani29:
