• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Headlight Problem

I washed the Spyder yesterday and when I pulled into the garage, shut it off and pulled the key, the headlights were still on. :yikes: I disconnected the battery for 30 minutes and they were still on. Next I pulled the relay and left it out overnight. This morning I plugged the relay back in and everything seems normal.

The electrical mods I have are (2) 12 volt outlets, GPS and alarm system.

Anybody have any ideas about this? :dontknow:

Thanks

Same thing happened to me after riding in a pouring rain for hours. The switch shorts out from being wet. After driving a while when the sun came out it dried out the switch and the lights went off. Strange huh? But I think that's the problem. That needs to be addressed by BRP.

"I disconnected the battery for 30 minutes and they were still on"

I have trouble believing this part. What could possibly be powering the lights if the the battery is disconnected. Is there some sort of capacitor that could hold enough charge to do this :dontknow:

I assume he meant that he disconnected the battery for thirty minutes and reconnected (to see if system would reset). Not that he had the battery disconnected and the lights stayed on for the 30 minutes it was disconnected.

But you know what they say about people that assume.

The only way that the lights would stay on with the battery "unhooked" is if you "unhooked" the battery under the seat.

I'm going to assume that he actually unhooked it just to see if the system would reset.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I disconnectd the battery, waited 30 minutes and reconnected.

My best guess is something shorted out. I was just wondering if anyone had experienced anything like this.

Thanks to everyone for getting back to me.

this happened to me after washing my bike I dried out the switch with an air compressor and had no more problems.

ddeyle, for any reason have you opened the right module that has the manual headlight switch on it? If so, maybe some gasket or O-ring is out of place allowing water to enter that switch or its wiring terminals.
